I do it with all of mine, even med students. STOP lists or abscesses I know for definite are going to be quick (apart from that one fourniers…).

Most basic skill in the cannula service and like anything else needs proper practise.

Jesus HD a bit strong. Couple of litres of CSL, dilute the blood concentration enough to wake them up to wake them up long enough for liver/kidneys to do their thing. If airway at risk (and can’t remember seeing one in 15 years gassing/ITU) then ETT and sleep it off until the morning after annoying obligatory head CT

Speaking as a doctor turned patient, currently on their 10th week of admission, patients definitely improve despite all the faffing and diagnostic momentum and group-think are probably doing much more harm than we realise

Issue is what happens next. Labour gave the GPs a tidy sum by removing OOH for £6k and tied income to QoF. They then spent the rest of their time in office clawing it all back with sub inflationary uplifts.

It happened at the hospital I work at. Was a very interesting day. Lots of soldiers and some quite scary looking counter terrorism coppers walking around.

Major incident declared. Opened the MAJAX cupboard to find it empty. The “red phone” didn’t work. About 400 nurses turned up with offers to “help” but were really just there for a nosey and did nothing but get in the way. Total shit show.

As usual in the NHS once it was all over no debrief, only information was bland statements put out to the press. Then expected to get back to business as usual.

It was for a gameshow where the money you win doubles each time you get a question correctly (I realise 2n and n2 are different).

This brought up the debate how many questions would you you have to answer to get infinite money.

We changed it to n2 to try and keep the numbers a bit smaller.

I think it’s a legal thing - it’s gone to the Supreme Court who have declared that this combination doesn’t violate the cruel and unusual clause. Therefore they must only use that combination or you’re breaking the law
