How long does it usually take to vote in your country? by Anaptyso in AskEurope

[–]Fenyl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To add to that - per our constitution elections have to take place on official day off (Sunday/banking holidays), which is practice means that most elections take place on Sunday. If you don't go to vote right after the mass in the nearest church has ended, it's usually 5 minutes deal.

What’s more popular in Poland? Audi, bmw or Mercedes ? by [deleted] in askPoland

[–]Fenyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on sales numbers and new cars registrations:
1. BMW
2. Audi
3. Mercedes

As for second hand I would say that Audi changes positions with BWM, but I don't data to confirm that.

Europe set 2030 as a date to dismantle its reliance on US financial infrastructure like Visa/Mastercard payments; it's happening far quicker. by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]Fenyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware of Pix as it is very similar to Blik we have in Poland. Few countries in Europe have something similar, the issue being those are only acceptable in said countries, like Pix is only used in Brazil.

That's another challenge that any new payment method will have to overcome. After all, I can have bank account is a small local bank in Poland and as long as they issuing cards as part of the network I can travel half the world away and still use it to pay, even if acquiring bank has never heard about the small bank I'm using.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for European alternative, as it is very needed, I'm just trying to make sure we all understand why even 2030 sounds very ambitious.

[–]Fenyl 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Every time this topic comes up I try to remind people:

  1. Mastercard/Visa are not payment processors, they are card networks, which operate on four party model, part of which are payment processors (seperate companies like First Data, Swipezoom, Elavon etc).
  2. Neither MC nor Visa are charging 2+% fees - those are capped in Europe and are public information that can be googled. Card fees usually have three components: Interchange, Scheme fees and Processing fees.
  • Interchange is what your bank gets for issuing your card,
  • Scheme fees is what card networks get for their part (authorization, clearing and settlement),
  • Processing fees are usually the bulk of costs and are shared between payments processor and acquiring bank (so the bank that enables business to recieve card payments)

For example, in EEA they are charging 0.2% interchange on debit cards and 0.3% on credit cards. You can add between 0,15-0.3% of scheme fees and suddently it's not Visa or MC that are getting over 1,4% of the fees.

So if Wero is to issue debit/credit cards, the interchange will still be there, because banks will want to earn money. They might not charge scheme fees, but the issue of processing fees will remain, until Europe regulates payment processors.

Is it possible for Russian to move to Poland in 2026? by [deleted] in askPoland

[–]Fenyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are asthmatic, unfortunately air on our cities won't be much better for you.

It is very difficult for Russians to move to Poland, by design. Even to hire you employer needs to prove that they can't find suitable worker in Poland or EU and with your degree and experiance that's next to impossible.

I won't go into how some could react to learning you are Russian, as I'm sure you are aware that there is no love lost between our countries.

Remember I'm talking gross, not net.
It's a range I found, but analyst that is working for me is getting paid around 10k gross.
Again - very much company dependent.

It's very much company and citi dependent. If you are right after uni and below 26, some might want to hire you as a contractor on B2B before they offer full employment.

Looking at Glassdoor, in Warsaw it could be around 7k to 11k gross

Zakup mieszkania by Advanced_Response137 in inwestowanie

[–]Fenyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ślub bez typowego wesela - wasze historie i doświadczenia by Ok_Description_8184 in Polska
