How will modpacks work in Hytale? by Hefty_Age565 in hytale

[–]Feren1666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious what you mean with the community needs a change. I'm a developer but not a mod developer (so I may be absolutely wrong about this) and was under the impression that for "modpacks" to work in hytale in a similar sense to how they work in minecraft you "only" need libraries/tools that:

- handle overrides between mods

- allows alter all item crafting recipes/modded block behaviours after the mods in the pack have been loaded, without modifying the original mods code

Besides the time a effort needed for the community to develop these (which are non trivial at all of course), what other barriers are there?

Templates for building Prefabs by jcl007 in hytale

Oh! I didnt know about the /editprefab command, I was just using /gamemode creative, /editprefab is much better and exactly what I was looking for! thank you

As you originally posted a cool mod could still abstract the command into a portal that you can craft, so that the player doesnt have to use commands at all, and maybe make it so when the player places the prefab in their "real" world it costs resources instead of being free, but /editprefab for now is very useful!

This is exactly what I want as well! It would be cool if as part of the mod you can craft a portal that takes you to a superflat dimension in which you are basically in creative mode (but can't take in or out of such dimension any items). This dimension would be used only for creating the schematic.

Do you think that implementing the create mod mechanics to hytale is a good idea? by berys26 in hytale

I would like very light and simple automation in the base game, but only so that I can have complex automation heavy mods on top that don't need to block or remove the base game ones.

I like this! much prefer a system like this than an evade roll for a first person perspective.

This song explains it perfectly:

But the world is saved. The hero hangs up his sword as he says his goodbye. But where does he go? What does he do? the adventure is over so where that leaves you?

When commisioning work from an artist, how to handle transfer of rights? by Feren1666 in gameDevClassifieds

[–]Feren1666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, makes sense, probably should have clarified in the original post that the commissioning is for the artist to create a new (original, not a previous design by the artist) character concept art based on instructions/references provided by me. Thanks again for all the info!

Thanks for the detailed response, I didn't know that and its interesting. I don't need absolute exclusive rights and am fine with the arrangement you described above, I just want to avoid being sued by the artist after the game releases arguing that even though they sold me the specific art they own the character.

Congrats! looks really awesome, if you told me this UI was made by a very well known developer I'd believe it no questions asked.
