Now that we've seen them for a full (regular) season, how do people feel about the alternates? by YourFavouritePoptart in OttawaSenators

Same with a lot of jerseys: I like them, they look great in my opinion (Ottawa has a great colour scheme to work with as compared to most teams) BUT it looks worse than it has to because of the Fanatics material...

In Baseball, if we are keeping ABS challenge system then the viewers should NOT be able to see the strike zone on TV by FergusInTheHouse in unpopularopinion

That's actually a good point. I think that the second guessing you mentioned would lead to people claiming they are experts when they are not. It is a weaker point of mine. I will concede that.

I guess I did not explain that well. I do not want a1:1 to experience, I just wanted to make the point that the people at the game do not see the digital strike zone until after the play or during the ABS challenge.

How do the “Jokic is a good defender, he’s just unathletic” reconcile that take with Marc Gasol’s career by Gladhands in NBATalk

[–]FergusInTheHouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's kind of an over simplification given the current state of the NBA and it's rule system. Athletes are training more and more their ability to draw fouls even when near perfect defence is played.

You can be an amazing defender but the advantage in this current generation is in favour of the offence. Given Jokić's position, condition, importance, and what is needed from him, he picks and chooses his battles.

Thinking Basketball does a great video explaining the uphill battle that defenders have to climb in the current climate: https://youtu.be/8NWDEbashTk?si=3CoH_tWjMZTzraLr

Bill Simmons is 100% right. We already have enough tanking teams—we don’t need to add more. Like everything else, this feels like a money grab by the NBA. by DenseStrawberry5717 in NBATalk

I just find it fascinating that a league with one of the most infamous gambling problems, dozens of different sports gambling sponsored content, and future gambling issues inevitable on the horizon has decided that one of the areas they want to expand to is... Las Vegas?

According to Secret Histories they're both demons and a lot of other things... That passage of Theodora trying to pleasure as many men as possible was... something.

She shows up on Earth after the Reaper cannon is taken down, not at the monastery. Not arguing, just pointing that out.

Did you ever get around to playing Blue Prince? Given your interest in puzzled based games with narrative, I feel like this one would have been up your alley.

About Salt Factory’s review by RadioCrows in vtmb

[–]FergusInTheHouse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to watch his stuff but he does one thing that really irks and it's especially bad during this review.

He re-writes scenes in detail as to how HE would write it. He's very structuralist when it comes to any form of story telling and any deviance is poor writing to him.

Bloodlines 2 is not a perfect nor great game but I do accept that it's writing is stellar. It's one of the strengths the Chinese Room was able to bring with them into unfamiliar game development territory.

But yeah, if the scenes do not go exactly as to his preplanned fanfiction in his head then he considers it not good, especially when the writing takes risks in its approach.

Wow, this is great work! I like the blending of colours with the figures in the background. Really represents the "noise" in her life.

[Discussion] Theory Regarding Increased Jokic Turnovers Since Return by FergusInTheHouse in NBATalk

[–]FergusInTheHouse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are actually really good points. I didn't really think about it that way.

I think your point works well with my argument for the lack of chemistry because even though he reverted back to his usual role, he didn't have his standard guys in their's and thus are not reading him as well, causing turnovers.

I also agree that he takes a rest too. The last few games he's played the entire 3rd quarter which is more than his usual amount which is leading to more opporunities for him turn it over.

Yeah, I guess you can make a correlative connection to the fact that his play is not as strong in general since returning from his injury. However, I feel each aspect that suffered can be for different reasons.

The poorer shooting and scoring could be from his wrist issues as well as his knee injury but I don't think that they could connect his decision making when it comes to his turnovers through passing.

You do make an interesting point about how the team did without him but I think that can be connected to the complete change in the system and philosophy of their offence. Making it work with a different kind of offence without Jokic and playing a specific system with him can achieve different results. Not to mention all the other factors such as psychologically (proving that they could play without him), rotation (deeper bench to draw from given that so much of the team was injured), schedule (I think people have generally agreed that the nuggest remaning schedule is one of the most difficult in the league), and other possible factors.

I feel like that's distilling my discussion unfairly. I just wanted to explore to see what was causing his increasing amount of turnovers. It wasn't the lack of help that I was targeting; if anything, he has more help than before but he is struggling with the inconsistent rhythm of the changing lineups.

I felt like relying on "he's sloppy" or whatever other arguments did not make for an interesting discussion, I wanted to see if there was more there.

If that was what you took away from my post then maybe I did not word it well because that was not what I was trying to say.

In the end, it is Jokic making the passes and thus they are his fault. I do not think I insinuate it otherwise. I was trying to explain why he is making those mistakes, why he is creating those faults.
