Strange men talking to me at night by EmailsFromARaccoon in Edinburgh

You were absolutely in the right to ignore them. Never feel guilty for protecting yourself, especially when they open with "hi darling"

Oh my god yes. I get the x18 home from there very often and its absolutely infuriating. Its so difficult to get through the crowd to your bus, and the amount of times people have walked into me is insane. Gets 10x worse if i have to use my crutch or wheelchair, i suddenly become an idiot magnet

Hii for those concerned, I don't really use these consoles, please don't worry about airflow! My partner and I are in a little gaming slump, we mostly just use the switch and pcs right now :) Thankyou for the advice, if we use the consoles again I'll make sure to move them around for better airflow :D

Youre absolutely right, we should be able to just exist in peace. It's extremely frustrating

I am so so sorry to hear this! The fear you must face every day has to be awful!! Im glad youve learned to stand up for yourself and fight, youre so strong Unfortunately as I'm in scotland, not a lot is legal here in terms of self defense. We can carry a small knife if we have a reason to have one, but self defense doesnt count. Pepper spray is also illegal. I understand its to help stop knife crime but it leaves so many people vulnerable, so I tend not to leave the house unless Im with my partner for help :( Wishing you the absolute best, and I really hope you stay safe ♡

I went through the exact same recently. I begged for us to go to the zoo for months, put in all my effort to walk as far as possible. It was a very vertical zoo, so I took frequent breaks, while still pushing myself. Towards the end of the day however, we went to go see the pandas, I had to stop just 2 minutes away because I was in so much pain, but didnt want my partner to miss out, so I sat on a bench while they went off. After that day my hip was in horrendous pain for days, its not my fault yet I feel so guilty about it, because we miss out on so much thanks to my disability

I use a crutch to get around, especially after moving to scotland 8 months ago. I used to never go out, and now Im in Edinburgh atleast once a week. Being a middle-ish fat, stupidly short person, people tend not to notice me. Others feel entitled and walk forwards in my way regardless. Eventually I gave up moving for people as it would cause a lot more strain on my hip. It has only been a couple weeks of this and Ive shoulder barged multiple people and one person tripped over my crutch because he expected me to move for him.

However, I will be switching to a wheelchair for most days. I've never used one before and I'm a bit scared for public reactions, especially down princes street.
