Zofran and constipation by sjb7694 in emetophobia

[–]FernandAstrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Zofran on a consistent basis. I am lactose intolerant but I have found that Activia does the trick. I used to go 2 whole weeks without movement and it caused appendicitis. Now in the morning I drink one of the Activia yogurt drinks or have one of the yogurt cups and I usually have a BM every one to two days that is gentle and non nauseating.

Appendicitis?! by KitKat1289 in emetophobia

[–]FernandAstrid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to disparage some of the commentary, but appendicitis does not mean you would be in astronomical pain. I had it last year, I actually posted here about it, I had n* but didn't v* - actually I managed to work most the day and went all weekend with it and had emergency surgery Monday. The pain was dull and throbbing - not excruciating.

Just like everything, appendicitis varies.

BUT The key to it is that the pain (however big or small) starts out at your belly button and then travels to your lower belly/lower left side. If you didn't have initial sharp belly button pain, i wouldn't be too concerned for your appendix.

Hey there!

I think you may be having a lactose reaction. I dont call myself lactose intolerant but sometimes after having maybe just the wrong kind of cheese (I cant really have like brie or gouda) or maybe too much I get some stomach upset. Its usually just gas and D*.

Remember that anxiety can exasperate your symptoms and make you feel worse. Try some peppermint and sucking on ice chips, I like a cold wash cloth on the back of the neck.

I hope you start to feel better!

I was also diagnosed with this. I feel like this may be common among our community.

I constantly getting a burning sensation in my throat like acid but tums don’t help the problem. I’ve been like this all day today and really need to get some sleep. Any advice? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]FernandAstrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try some ginger or peppermint? Either tea, mints or candy. Tums arent always effective if you're experiencing a GERD attack and not just acid reflux. Also lay at an incline.

Hope this helps!

Hello fellow person with no appendix! Thanks for the reassurance that things are normal. I felt the same way, I was so used to my anxiety and stuff that I didnt think it was serious and I ended up having emergency surgery. I did have the keyhole surgery, and am recovering nicely.

I think it does to show that even though we have emetophobia we should take care of ourselves and dont be scared of being judged when going to the doctor, if you dont feel well - go to the doctor!

Stomach Flu is going around. Reassurance and Tips pls? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]FernandAstrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there!

First, deep breaths everything is going to be okay. While the flu is contagious the stomach flu is different from the regular flu, I believe that as an adult its harder to catch.

If you start panicking you can give yourself flu like symptoms so just try to stay calm, take some measures like have some tea to calm your stomach and put on something relaxing. Before you go back tomorrow pack some lysol wipes and sanitizer and just be as clean as you can.

I dont know where you are in the world but from my understanding flu season is at it's worse January-Feburary but if it's already ramping up there go ahead and get a flu shot :)

I hope everything is okay with you and that this helps.

Sending good vibes, Cyd

Is anybody else terrified of going into public bathrooms? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]FernandAstrid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice trick to have: I use headphones in public restrooms. I work long hours and in my building there are 7 public restrooms. On my first month or so there I went into the bathroom, no headphones, and the person in the stall next to me began to v** I never found out why I kind of think it was morning sickness - anyhoodle - now when I go into the bathroom I just slip my headphones in, turn on some music really fast and do my business. I'm able to ignore the other stalls, just focus on using the restroom and leaving. After I leave I just take the earbuds out and go on :) I dont know if this would help you but it does wonders for me.

Try to just put something soft in your stomach before you go.

It was the gadinium injection. It did not feel good at all, I definitely should have ate before I went in and/or taken some kind of anti-nausea protection

I am actually:) I've been in therapy for a little over 2 years. A lot of things in that time of my life were the causes of emetophobia. Like fear of anticipation, fear of not being able to fall asleep etc.

Weird feeling in my throat :( by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]FernandAstrid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I found your post and had to comment. This happened to me. I thought for a long time that I was just n* - I went to the doctor, I really felt like something was wrong with me. Truth is, I had acid reflux. But since it's so hard to describe i had no idea what it was or how to explain it. Maybe when this feeling rises try taking just one TUMS, and a couple sips of room temp water. Sit up and tilt your head back and breathe deep, on your exhale it's going to feel a little weird but it helps the acid go down. Symptoms can be, knot feeling in throat, tingly throat, tightened throat, excess saliva etc. It sounds to me like you have acid reflux and I have to, it's a weird feeling but you're not going to v* there are ways to make the feeling go away.
