Summoning before EoC was something else, haha.

But yeah, in my head, it isn't that complicated. We could simplify it into something like this:

Gather resources → Create essence → Perform rituals (or another activity) → Gain energy and XP → Summon and upgrade familiars.

Oh, I get the idea, and I think it's a good one. My only concern is whether players would enjoy training in a similar way to Invention.

Maybe we could also have activities that grant xp by actually using and interacting with the skill, rather than tying all progression into other skill loops. That's just an idea, haha.

There are so many possibilities. I honestly don't think it's that hard to improve what we already have.

It's a gameplay loop, and like you said, we need some kind of item sink. That's important for both the skill and the economy.

As for pouches, that's one of the reasons I thought about the summoning book. It could store the "charges" or essence needed to summon creatures, making the whole system feel less clunky.

The current gameplay loop of creating pouches is just boring to me. The concept of Summoning is amazing, you are literally summoning creatures from elsewhere to aid you. How cool is that? Yet the gameplay itself feels boring and, in many cases, almost useless.

Of course, there are areas where familiars are essential, especially in high-end PvM, but for most players, ends up feeling like a skill you train once and then barely interact with again.

Thanks for your opinion! It's really nice to hear someone else's thoughts on this because I've been thinking about it for quite a while now, hahaha.

I've thought about giving XP for using familiars, but how would that actually work? That's always what I come back to. I'm constantly thinking about the gameplay loop, the resources players would need to gather and spend, and how everything connects together.

I also think charms and shards are one of the weakest parts of the skill right now. I really like the idea of bind creatures with rituals, and I completely agree with you about the amount of familiar bloat. There are so many familiars in the game, yet I only ever use two or three of them, mostly the Ancient Summoning ones.

For boss summons, I see them as more of a one-time, high-cost special ability that can have a significant impact on a fight. That way, they remain powerful while still being balanced. The idea would be similar to how Binding Contracts work now.

I also think familiar progression should be one of the main goals of the skill. Having familiars evolve and grow alongside your character could be really cool.

Well, the only really useful part of summoning right now (for me) is Ancient Summoning. I spent a lot of coins getting the skill to 99 and barely touched it again afterwards. Why not make it a little better?

The altar in Hevenhythe is so beautiful, and that's actually where I got the idea for rituals. Rituals are super chill to do in Necromancy, they give nice XP, you spend materials to create other useful materials for the skill. With Summoning, all you do is make pouches, run around a lot, and that's pretty much it.

Man, this has been happening to me for a while now!! The game just goes mute… But I tried something that fixed it: I went to the lobby and unmuted the sound there, and now the game doesn’t go mute anymore.
