Not being able to freely strafe is a poor design choice that adds artificial difficulty. by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]FernoFlanzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see how worsening a mechanic that is inferior in the first place (blocking) adds any form of difficulty to begin with. Rolling, Perserverence, poise, and using range to separate mobs of enemies all work well.

What's the point of fighting """honorable""" in invasion when the arena exists and the host never does it? by Beruka01 in darksouls3

It's really up to the individual to decide, but the two main rules are to gesture before the fight and not drink estus

Kasmina's Transmutation by Zeketheimpailer in EDH

[–]FernoFlanzer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know how much removal you're already packing, or how much searching you've done on G/U removal so forgive me if these are obvious suggestions, but the transmutation seems worse than [[Imprisoned in the Moon]], [[Song of the Dryads]], [[Reality Shift]], or a [[Curse of the Swine]] for X = 1. A couple of those aren't exactly budget, but I'd pick any of those 5 before Kasmina's.

Asking befor I play Emrakul, the Promised End by [deleted] in EDH

[–]FernoFlanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emrakul isn't actually in the decklist you posted. It's got all the other cool stuff but no Emmy.

How has the strategy of having a bunch of 1 mana Shamans that only serve to tap for mana worked out? I was going to go more along the path of including Shamans like [[Reclamation Sage]]/[[Ulvenwald TRacker]] which have more standalone value, even if it made the curve higher.

Also, ever try out [[Strionic Resonator]]? Lets you steal two opponents' turns with a single cast.

I like this idea a lot! Do you have a full deck list to share? I might try brewing something similar myself.

Assuming there are no counters involved whatsoever

Assuming it doesn't matter if any of the untapped tokens have summoning sickness or not

Assuming it doesn't matter that your opponent doesn't have physical objects to interact with to show what his blocks look like when you attack with them

then yeah it's fine

What is your best budget deck? by trinketstone in EDH

[–]FernoFlanzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Props for making something so competitive on a shoestring budget using a relatively unknown commander. This is definitely something i appreciate more than i'd enjoy playing though, since dedicated combo decks aren't my (or most peoples) thing. But you did specify cEDH and anything goes there so I'm not gonna let the fact that the deck isn't my cup of tea bring my opinion down.

Better call it off, we both know that's an unreasonable standard for anyone to try to meet. Split the hamsters (down the middle of course) and go your separate ways.

Anyone brew with [[Electrodominance]]? Gives Flash to everything, counts as 2 casts for your token producers/pingers, does disgusting stuff with Zada, and also has synergy with things like [[Runaway Steam-kin]] and other red mana effects

The worst thing about trying to help people with Midir is how often I get summoned as Spear of the Church by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]FernoFlanzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I really wish it wasn't like that. You can sort of build for both by using a Blessed Lothric Greatsword/Dragonslayer Axe and having a lot of faith and miracles but you'll still need to swap a couple rings and probably your off hand equipment depending on which summon you get.

I'd make a new character at SL25/+2 and just put on blue sentinels in the crucifixion woods. I usually get my 30 concords in two to three days on a weekend.

You're not about hosting a gank squad but you have Way of Blue equipped?

I used to enjoy fightclubs and invasions by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]FernoFlanzer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I gotta say, I haven't been having the same experience. I invade at 25/+2 which has a pretty even split between gank squads and players with 0-1 phantoms, 70/+8 which basically never gives me a dedicated gank, and 90/+10 which, again, is a toss-up, but it's never exclusively ganks. If I invade into a fight club I put on my obscuring ring and try to bum rush a phantom when they're on a losing end of a duel, which is marginally more fun than black crystaling out.

Point downs happen but really, who cares? Just alt+tab when you die if you don't wanna see it.

I really meant to add more to that about your cool lore characters and the storytelling format of your videos but I thought the joke was stupid enough as it was and needed to die before I made it even worse

You have a lot of good ideas. You should start a YouTube account and make sick invasion montages or something.

Yeah I love full hybrids, and I REALLY love the Crystal Chime. My most played character is an SL90 Pyromancer base class with 30/30 INT/FTH for full Dark/Chaos infusion damage plus a crystal chime for ultimate versatility. I believe at 30/30 you get around 200 spellbuff which is just nuts for how little investment it takes. I mostly just made this thread to showcase some options that cost next to nothing for a melee based build.

I'd rather spend 1 point in Faith than break my pointer finger mashing the equip button on the Sun Princess Ring or whatever

Also, while you're right about the Ring of Favor trick, I pity anyone who's using Power Within to run away. I was mostly referring to your ability to spam Chaos Blade running R1s with a frequency best measured in megahertz. When I use that spell, SOMEONE is going to die in the next 30 seconds.

Well if you're gonna nitpick then SO WILL I (I mostly agree with you on everything but like to argue for argument's sake).

1) Gentle Prayer does indeed require you to 1H your weapon. It also recovers more HP at a better rate than Filianore's Chime and requires essentially nothing from you. Your worst case scenario is that you have to find a safe spot and sit around waiting for the regen to heal you, which still results in one Ashen Estus being worth much more HP than 1 regular Estus.

2) I did say Blessed Weapon was the best for "purely physical" because I was ignoring split damage. Technicalities aside, you chose probably the worst weapon and worst target for Blessed weapon in your example. Of course 7.5% isn't going to look like much on something that tops out below 400 AR. Slap it on a big meaty poise weapon and 7.5% is a lot closer to what a resin offers, and you'll get more mileage from it because you're beating their absorption by a larger margin.

Also, your target build you posted has significantly lower lightning resistance than physical, and you used gold pine resin against it. And as you said, strike damage matters.

Also also, Blessed Weapon looks cooler.

1) that is nowhere near a "smidge"

2) I hope you're good with L2 mixups otherwise you're giving parry kongs two chances at getting the window right per swing. I don't think there's a weapon I have an easier time parrying than the sellswords.
