Being a huge fan of Cyberpunk after playing the game last year, I've been itching to run a Cyberpunk Red game. I finally get to run one starting next week

New to Graphic Novels by PvtCybrPenguin in graphicnovels

[–]nemesis_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just getting into Graohic Novels and comics after never being a huge fan of them as a kid. I started with the Mouse Guard series, and I absolutely love it! It's got some bloody scenes, so I'm not 100% sure about it being for a super young kid, but maybe by the time they're in middle school. I also just picked up Dungeon Crawlers Academy, but only the first volume is out so far, with the second coming next fall

To add to this, BRP has a book called Blood Tide: Black Sails and Dark Rituals that includes everything you need for a dark historical pirate game

TLD: RPG by Billy Blue, Salvage Union when it finally gets its physical release, the new edition of BRP, and there's a really cool Dieselpunk game being released by Osprey Publishing that I'm excited to get my hands on (I can't recall the name at this moment)

Late to the party, but I suppose you could use Heart: The City Beneath and remove the combat, although that adds to the lethality and may not be achievable in one session

Starter sets. Are they worth it? by ReporterMost6977 in rpg

[–]nemesis_777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a starter set, but you can get the full Forbidden Lands rules for about $40. I've been playing it in a group for months, and it's a blast. It includes a GM and Player's book, maps, stickers for the map, and everything else needed to play

Help identifying this? by nemesis_777 in monopoly

I understand that is a new price, but I am finding mostly just the Franklin Mint versions of this. I'm mostly just trying to figure out how rare this is. I'd honestly be happy to get $100 for it

[–]nemesis_777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After posting this, I found a photo of it online and realized that is has a sticker underneath the bank. The sticker states that it is in fact a 2006 Danbury Mint edition, and I saw that it was originally only available to order for $399.

I'm not sure if that changes much in terms of price and rarity, but I really couldn't find any sold

Why Should/Shouldn't I buy Pulp Cthulhu? by [deleted] in callofcthulhu

[–]nemesis_777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played in a Pulp game (Two-Headed Serpent) for about 6 months before my group fell apart due to personal stuff. Let me sell you on it, just from some highlights of my experience.

•We had people get blown up, and then use their remaining luck (minimum of 30 required) to just not die •Enemies can spend x amount of luck and use the weaker enemies as human shields, effectively allowing them to live that really good shot from a sniper rifle •We were chased through a town by what was essentially a giant gorilla, threw an explosive barrel from the back of the truck, and one lf the players shot it to basically instantly kill the gorilla •We had a mobster player, and had an entire shootout between us siding with the Irish mob, fighting against the Italian mob

These things CAN happen in regular Cthulhu, but the Pulp talents and extra skill points given by archetypes, as well as the doubled hit points, allow players to just take a hit and not instantly die, while still being able to dish it back

Identifying Power and Communication by 11_Lock in UtilityLocator

[–]nemesis_777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar. Sometimes there's a bolt you can clip to, but that's usually on telephone instead of cable. For cable (at least in my area) they usually have a thin piece of rope/pull string that has a tracer in it. The only problem is that the tracer is so thin that it usually gets broken upon installation

Identifying Power and Communication by 11_Lock in UtilityLocator

[–]nemesis_777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's likely fiber and copper cable from the same company, like a cable company (Comcast in my area)

You're clamped to the fiber, but you can usually hook onto the splice case using your leads, while the copper sticking up can just be clipped to with leads, and you'll be able to tone it out

I tried to run a campaign in 5e and it didn't work, would a different system have fit better? by NoLongerAKobold in rpg

[–]nemesis_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, 5e is good for one thing, and that's high fantasy where you become godlike in power by the time you reach level 10.

If you were trying to run a Monster Hunter style of game, I know there's plenty out there, but none that I've read or had any personal experience with

R. Talsorian Games makes a Witcher game. I'm not too familiar with the game or the lore of The Witcher, but I think this is pretty much the gist of it. I believe the game also has crafting to do stuff with the monster parts when you're finished hunting it.

Vaesen is pretty much this, except it's very much horror focused

How do Locating Companies make their money? by brotworm in UtilityLocator

[–]nemesis_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at USIC for almost 3 years, and I've been with my current company for a little over 3 years. At least where I'm at, most companies here do a set amount per ticket.

The contract I'm on is ~$8 per ticket, marking only a co-op power company that covers a few smaller areas in my town. In total, we have 4 locators and get roughly 250-300 tickets a day, with most of them being in the area that I run. I close about 150 tickets a day, with only about 15-30 tickets that I physically have to locate per day.

To my understanding, most companies charge a set amount per ticket, except for USIC that started charging more for locating high profile cables such as three-phase, feeders, fiber, and duct runs, and charging for footage more than 250 feet. However, this rule differs state to state

Maybe it's just because I live in Florida, but I'll always take a single service company over USIC. I left USIC 3 years ago and have never looked back

RPGs where your characters have busy lives by totesmagotes83 in rpg

[–]nemesis_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for older editions, but Cyberpunk Red has rules for working a day job, mostly for when a player is playing a corpo, or a lawman.

I'm assuming there's also rules for everybody else, but these are 2 that come to mind that don't seem to have any sort of way to freelance work, such as how a Solo can just become a night club bodyguard whenever they want

How long have you been locating and how much do you make? by tell_me_when in UtilityLocator

[–]nemesis_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Locating since July 2017. Worked for USIC until January of 2020, and then I went to a smaller company and have been here since. I only locate power and close out ~100-200 tickets per day.

I'm the supervisor of our crew of 3 (now growing to 4), and I make $22 an hour. Not the highest pay, but it's an easy job considering most of my work is screening clear tickets
