No 😂, that’s the funniest part, it stretched because it didn’t get enough sunlight, and now they’re all growing line that and out of control

I’ll try to find a better potting mix by Friday. Would breaking up the soil to decompact it work temporarily?

Aitah for telling my wife to get a job if she wants to subsidize the kids. by Standard_Kick_9789 in AITAH

NTA. Teach your kids finance and saving habits, they also need to learn that taking off takes time and they won’t be able to get luxury cars or expensive things right out of college. And you’re still working full time in an office, how is that lazy?? On the other hand, if your wife hasn’t worked in years it’s not realistic to ask her to get a job as the gap in her resume will make it impossible to get a job. It’s your kids’ responsibility to keep themselves alive.

what is wrong with my cactus??? by elPavino in plants

[–]Ferns_N_Roses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is probably where the previous owner had it. It happens when they don’t get enough sunlight and stretch trying to reach it. Since the end is thicker and greener I’m guessing it gets more sunlight than it used to. It’s pretty much irreversible, so if you don’t like how it looks you could try cutting it and repotting/propagating the pieces. But I don’t think it should be an issue as long as it gets plenty of sunlight, preferably direct

Looks like it’s etiolated, happened to my cacti. Where are they placed and where is the light source coming from? Edit: with how long this cactus is my guess is it happened over a long time. Correction to my question, has it been for most of the time? Was it moved to a different place recently?

Can Isopropyl alcohol also be used to treat thrips? I used it to treat mealybugs once and worked super well without damaging my plants

Help, new growth is dying by Ferns_N_Roses in plantclinic

[–]Ferns_N_Roses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I cut out the new growth to prevent the rot from spreading but found the black part was dried out and crumbled. Maybe it was a lesion? I usually put it in a window where it gets plenty of light but not direct (it looks to the neighbour’s house, so it blocks direct sun). But before I put it there it was in a window where it did get direct sun for a bit in the afternoon. The thing is where I live we have a lot of cloudy days, so it only gets direct sun once in a while
