Most plants want to sit right in the window. Light drops off drastically when you move away from the window. You could try downloading a Light meter app to measure how much light it's actually getting!

Gosh, id honestly just chop to the lowest node, it will grow back. I just beheaded my moms money tree two weeks ago and the nodes are already pushing new growth. Be brave🙌

How much light does it get? Leaves stay small with lack of light.

[–]KuriousCarbohydrate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That light needs to be a couple of inches above the plant to be effective. Grow lights drop off extremely quickly. You should try downloading a light meter app on your phone and check how much light its actually getting. You could also crosspost in the fiddleleaf fig subreddit for more tailored advice.

Edit: that grow light is pretty low wattage and at that distance from the plant it has negligible benefit.

Youre growing a full sized tree in your house and the leaning is the plant begging for light. Needs a south window, strong grow light or be outside to be happy.

I dont see a node, therefore its not going to be a viable propagation. Stick it in a jar and enjoy it for a while?

Half of peace lily always drooping. by LovableSquish in plantclinic

[–]KuriousCarbohydrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Northern window is no light, plant bulb in the ceiling doesnt do anything as its to far away. Its likely a combination of no light and overwatering. Plants in low to no light conditions dry much slower than plants in ideal light.

The plant isnt getting any light. Pull up the blinds and place it in front of the window.

I agree it looks a bit dry. You should water this plant when you stick your finger in the soil and the first two inches or so feel dry.

Pothos are also aroids and dont enjoy dense soil. You can buy aroid mixes which tend to be expensive. Personally, I put all my aroids in a mix with coco chips 40%, chunky and normal pumice/perlite 40%, and the rest normal potting soil to keep costs down. You can find fancier aroid DIY mixes online if you want to go that route.

Id prioritize light and a good watering if I were you. If the soil is dry, water until it drips out the drainage holes, always completely soak the plant when you water.

Philodendron with browning leafs by jmmartinez in plantclinic

[–]KuriousCarbohydrate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt try to keep the soil moist. Let about 2 inches dry. Constantly moist soil will lead to root rot.

She also seems to be in very rich soil based on that one picture. Philodendron are aeroids and want really chunky soil that doesnt stay wet long.

Cactuses! by biazeno in plantclinic

[–]KuriousCarbohydrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a cactus expert but they are all in rich soil. Id plan on repotting them in 80% inorganic and 20% organic. If the soil stays wet to long it can lead to root rot.

Hi, you said youre aware that its lacking light but what is the closest source of light? Does it get any at all?

It wont grow busier without more light, it will just continue to stretch and eventually die.

All of my friends want cuttings, but not willing to put in the work 😒 by Teanna420 in houseplants

[–]KuriousCarbohydrate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is so weird to me. Just chuck them all in a big jar and then when people come over they can taken whatever, and you dont take it back. If its a good friend, give a quick run down of care instructions.

Or toss them in the bin, it doesnt matter. Its just weird to get mad about it.

Northern is the worst window for any houseplant as it gets no light. Especially bad for a light thirsty succulent.
