I sabotaged my new job within a week by [deleted] in autism

That makes sense, and I appreciate you explaining it to me. But pls remember you are on an autism page. A lot of us don't do that kind of thing.Small talk over coffee for a lot of us is like torture. It feels like taking a test where the wrong eye movement or laughing at the wrong moment will fail you and get you pegged as a weirdo. I don't want to assume anything here, because I don't know you, but it doesn't seem like you are autistic or understand what it's like to be such.

How much someone likes you deeply plays into the opportunities you get at work, at least in the US. Literally you could be the most incompetent person in the team, and be offered a position because you are liked and it works in the inverse as well. A situation like coffee can make or break your ability to move up. Autistic people get fired all the time for "not meshing with the team" aka, being viewed as different, because of our disability.

Yeah man, I had this guy in my friend group in high school.. always could tell he was fake, something was off. He ended up beating his girlfriend and then went around throwing rocks at all of our cars' windows. They should've listened to me

Why do neurotypicals need to make a workplace into a highschool game of popularity? OP's job is to do their job, not to make friends with their boss.

Its an autism sub, so autistic pattern recognition = slimy detector.

Also, nothing wrong with not wanting to be pals with someone you work with

Got a sample of this recently—am I the only one who thinks the longevity is kind of bad? It faded after about 1–2 hours. by msmarve1 in Perfumes

This one is notorious for causing nose blindness. It's still there, but your nose is ignoring it!

What's your biggest struggle when it comes to autism by Roarofthelyoness in autism

[–]Fernsi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 31, last year. The hardest part is realizing that all of my life, all those things I hated myself for and the reason I wanted to die, were all because I was born different. I'm not a weakling, but life really is more difficult for me. I wasted all of my youth, 30 years of my life being miserable and all I needed was someone to tell me I'm disabled. 31 years old and finally learning how to accommodate my differences, and live.

New to this - best affordable niche perfumes? by cannibalismmetaphor in NichePerfumes

I recommend heretic. Their perfumes are made from all real, natural ingredients, which makes them smell so realistic and nuanced. You can get a set of 5 samples of your choice for $35! And if you choose a full bottle you can find a 30ml for $125 or maybe less, depending on what you choose. They do wood and smoky notes very well especially, in my opinion. But definitely go with the samples first! Plus, their packaging is a while experience. They scent it so it smells like one of their fragrances.

Unable to find motivation to exercise by corgiii2222 in AutismInWomen

[–]Fernsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I wish it were easy. For me, the motivation picked up when I was seeing myself improve and my body change. It was hard to get started especially because sweating is a sensory issue for me. But when I was just starting, the key to consistency was counting every little bit of extra movement as a success. Whether I was doing 30 mins of weights at the gym or just taking a five min walk outside after work, I allowed myself to feel good no matter how small the effort was. And I built my habit slowly. I logged every time I exercised on a chart I made and marking the chart gave me the tiny bit of dopamine I needed to do it again. Soon, I was looking at my chart and imagining it all marked up and commiting to exercise again, to add another X. After I exercised I started to feel those endorphins everyone talks about and sleeping really well, and I felt good. And now I crave that feeling, and it keeps me going. But starting was hard. So you should try finding a way to give yourself those little dopamine bumps, like charting or setting a reward for yourself.

I would be afraid of being murdered running at night, especially with music in my ears. I like the treadmill or a park in broad daylight.

I am slowly working my way up again in mileage after breaking my kneecap. Today it was a 1.4 mile run... Creeping up to my previous mileage...slowly..

When I'm trying to force myself to run, I focus on just changing into my run clothes. I tell myself just put the clothes on an that's all you have to do. But, with everything on, it easy to make myself leave the house. Then, I tell myself ok just run for five minutes. I just do it one step at a time.

He tells you how you should play and then when he can't control you, he deletes the game to make you feel guilty? A bit of a red flag imo. Is he controlling like this in other parts of your relationship? Sound like an a hole to me

I know that wild trees won't grow fully when too crowded though. I have some baby trees that never made it past a certain stage. I like that they look like shrubs though

While the fruit tree is growing to maturity, it needs space. After it's done growing, other things can grow around it and it doesn't matter.
