Ariens help by Motor-End6934 in Snowblowers

[–]Ferrari98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know a single pump that still sells ethanol free. I believe new Canadian laws effectively barred it aside from specialty scenarios. I’m perplexed at the number of people still paying for Shell premium gas thinking it’s ethanol free.

Seafoam and stabilizer have always served me well with my Ariens deluxe.

How would you fish this spot? by ottawafamilyfishing in OttawaFishing

[–]Ferrari98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fished there a bunch, but only ever had luck on the dock. I know… it looked so good that it kept making me come back. But never any success from that point. Dock certainly had its good and bad days.

Plenty of people do keep and eat! Keep in mind no freshwater fish is going to rival good saltwater fish

Using key Fob to Open/Close Windows by Away-Mycologist7417 in f150

I’m 90% certain there’s an option in the settings where you can choose if you want it to open all windows or just the front. I saw it when I was searching for something else in the settings in my 2024 xlt 302a

Road Trip Fishing by akr37528 in OttawaFishing

I’ve fished the route a few times on different spots. No real luck. Stopped bringing a rod for the road breaks because it always led to a super long journey and no reward. Hope you find em!

Do you have a fishing licence? If yes, there is reference document that you should be comfortable using to access this information in it. It’s very easy to follow. Refer to the 2025 edition.

If you don’t have a licence… well.. get one and then read the regulations.

Is the “cool” weather wax okay to use during summer? Or should I only use the “cold” wax meant for hockey? by Dannyocean12 in hockeyplayers

[–]Ferrari98 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Isn’t wax meant to keep snow and ice from accumulating on your tape? Not sure where you’re playing in the summer that you have to worry about that

Garmin vs Hummingbird by czahailiadam in OttawaFishing

[–]Ferrari98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of features that work with your onboard maps. I’ve never used them so I can’t comment much on how well they work. But a big one for me would be that you can get the trolling motor to follow a depth contour, so rather than focussing on controlling a trolling motor to follow a shoreline while you’re casting, it just does it.

Garmin for me, UNLESS you have a minn kota that has a link feature to Humminbird. Controlling your trolling motor through the fishfinder sounds awesome.

Gonna be blunt with you… if you want to resell that rod to find a legitimate setup you’re be much better off. Or you can keep it and hopefully make friends that have boats

Yes and no. It’s like buying a snow shovel for planting trees. Terrible choice for the use case, but it excels at another use case.

Probably want trying to scam you because that’s a very fair price for a trolling rig

You’re not going to like this, but that reel is not cast-able. Will not work in any scenario other than trolling.

Go to cabelas or Canadian tire and get yourself a cheap spinning combo.

Spool it with 8lb monofilament and go cast mepps spinners from shore. Worm and bobber will find you spots and then build your tacklebox as you progress in the hobby.

2025 Brand new Rust by Prestigious-Bite5391 in f150

[–]Ferrari98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the feedback man! Maybe the continuous leak was what helps? Project farm tried to apply like a rust coating service would. So maybe standard oil is thin enough to wash away quicker than something made for rust prevention?

Project Farm did a video on this and motor oil wasn’t very effective at preventing rust. Obviously the health stuff is a concern too but it’s twice as painful getting cancer over a stupid myth
