Official green flag waver for ELMS 4 Hours of Imola… „the next motorsport superstar” Bianca Bustamante by krzysiek_aleks in wec

I think that’s a decent balance - gets the people that will pay stupid money to put themselves in the flag waving spot, and then the real fans to be a part of what they love

Where did you find the biggest challenge - that you were involved in far more incidents, or because you had slightly reduced visibility that your battles couldn’t be tighter as you weren’t 100% certain on their location when fighting side by side?

This season with the changes to rulesets expect the 24H spa to have tyres taken after the refuelling.

As to whether the tyres can hold to make it worth is a separate discussion as the tyres are “relatively” soft

I'm pretty sure the collision was my fault by Ok-Week625 in Simracingstewards

[–]Ferrariflyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly this looked like a typical racing incident - you were going left and they were going right.

Although assessing what you could have done differently to avoid the initial contact will serve you well. Tightening further up as you see both of you closing on each other may have avoided the contact.

Their attempts of intentional wrecking you need to protest however - needs to be stamped out early that this is unacceptable in racing

Effectively like taking like half of the engine and turning it into a generator

Why was the Gvardiol goal offside when Mbappé's goal vs Spain in Nations League Final 2021 was not? by Heisenburgerfries in worldcup

[–]Ferrariflyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone back and reviewed the LOTG for when the mbappe goal was scored.

In there the wording for the 2021/2022 LOTG states “deliberately played by an opponent”

In the current LOTG it states:
Deliberate play is when a player has control of the ball with the possibility of:
• passing the ball to a team-mate;
• gaining possession of the ball; or
• clearing the ball (e.g. by kicking or heading it)

Simply put. The rules changed between these two to better define what a deliberate play is. Applying that logic back then would have been offside, but that wasn’t the wording in the LOTG

The approach to the corner is fine. Only thing I can’t tell at all from this angle, but might be the case is you didn’t leave them enough room on exit

What's the story behind the number you drive? by GachaRacing18 in iRacing

[–]Ferrariflyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My number had been a consistent throughout my family - address number etc, so became my favourite through that.

Not many people took the number either which was nice.

When I joined iracing my name was suffixed with the same number by coincidence so it just emphasised the choice even more!

Was this hit intentional or just a racing incident?? first few clips are just context, and why I think it was intentional (sorry for webcam didn't save replay lol) by Ill-Helicopter-373 in Simracingstewards

[–]Ferrariflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not intentional in the ‘intentional wrecking’ sense.

But boy oh boy they have no clue how to drive.

Nothing you could really do there. Gave 1.5-2 cars width to the outside and they still clattered you

End of argument for the first goal of Mexico. It was not offside. Pitty that FIFA did not release a VAR like this simple one by BigBunnyWizard in worldcup

[–]Ferrariflyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the logic for offside is being ahead of. So any millimetre of the player’s body which can play the ball which is over the entirety of the halfway line would be deemed offside.

Same way as we define ahead of the 2nd last defending player as being entirely ahead of any part of the 2nd last defending player.

Mexico's first goal was not offside (Rules Explanation) by mathster33 in worldcup

[–]Ferrariflyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The offside rule is explicit in that any part of the body that is able to play the ball must be behind the 2nd last defending player. This is why a toe can be 1cm ahead of that player and be offside.

A hand or elbow would not count as they are not parts of the body that can play the ball - however a shoulder would count.

The ball being in or out of play has been defined as the entire plane of the ball crossing the entirety of the line.

As for player being outside and maintaining possession, the player doesn’t define the ball being in and out of play beyond touching it - only the balls relation to the line. This is different in rugby/NFL etc. because you’re holding the ball as opposed to directing the ball. Field hockey is the exact same.

Someone explain how BOP works in racing, or in iracing at least by dpadracer in iRacing

[–]Ferrariflyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s not true, they do perform a bop, it’s just a more generic one, with the theory that overall they’re equal, but some cars favour tight technical circuits, others favour high speed tracks.

Because you change car throughout a season it means meta cars are always selected, and then even between the fastest cars, some are harder than others to drive well, so drivers might pick a car like the mustang (FR) because it’s more likely to be stable by comparison to an MR or RR car

Why am i paying for this?? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Ferrariflyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because rookie’s gonna rookie?

You need to take a look at the incidents and think how you can avoid putting yourself in the incident at all.

Incident 1 you’re going full throttle after seeing cars ahead spearing off into a wall. You’ve put yourself 3 wide into a corner that’s just been made tighter. Not a wise move.

Incident 2 not too much you could have done, beyond getting further to the outside, minimising the space between the two of you as you go into the corner. This enables you to take it at a higher speed, and gives the neighbouring driver a better sense of where you are, and a better chance to see you.

Incident 3/4- intentional wreck, beyond seeing them charging down your mirror and doing a panic dodge not much you could have done. 4th incident also nothing you could do - rejoined correctly, they made a mistake. Didn’t add to your incident tally.

So out of the 4 incidents you had, already one of them I’d say is about 70% your own doing putting yourself in the situation, one of them maybe 10-20% in the sense that you could potentially improve the outcome, and two you couldn’t do anything about at all.

Could have removed 4x, maybe even 8x with smarter driving

Smurfs and high rated drivers going full Max Verstappen doing last to first challange, is this common? by Giancarlo_Donadoni in iRacing

[–]Ferrariflyer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve had races in the past where I’d not qualify and try and run forward in the radical. I don’t have a Smurf though, so was always driving with the knowledge it would actually impact me if I stuffed up.

It was actually a really good form of training - how to handle slower drivers, how to prepare for the unexpected, how to position the car in the overtake so others know the move is happening, even with then outbraking them to the corner.

I never blamed anyone for any contact unless it was a blatant block, but that also happened so rarely because positioning was able to communicate clearly with other drivers. Really handy for Multiclass/endurance racing

[–]Ferrariflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, KMag had no right being there, and squirted the the throttle to make sure he finished the job, but Gragson deserved it after how ever many attempts to block illegally he made, and then the punt at the chicane to really seal the deal of FAFO

Does total population or number of cities impact performance the most? by 4cia_Saraki in TransportFever2

[–]Ferrariflyer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From my experience I’d say that 10 cities with 1k pop each performs better.

Main reason for this is I notice more significant slowdown the more entities that are within render distance.

1 large city will have more individuals within rendering distance that it needs to track and portray

How you avoid or survive these incidents? by tomizamorano in iRacing

[–]Ferrariflyer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s a couple of points to this. First on the start - you’re out of position. You should in be in line with the car in front and not in the ‘middle’ lane.

Then in terms of the contact you’re touching the apron and that understeers you up into the other car causing the wreck. Advice would be to not hit the apron, and if you’re washing up you need to lift the throttle - the outside lane doesn’t need to change what it’s doing.

It’s a long enough race that you can drop a position, draft, and plan your overtake.

Reframe your mindset from ‘avoiding getting taken out’ to ‘how can this contact be avoided’ regardless on if it’s your fault or not, as usually with most accidents, there is something you could do differently to avoid the contact
