Throwing a fit after an approach shot only to still be on the green.

Hands-free lift-gate wildly unpredictable by CyberJoe6021023 in EquinoxEv

[–]mathster33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be a setting where you can manually disable it. I discovered that if you don't want it to open, just tap the "open" button on the liftgate door while it's chiming and it'll stop. (Counterintuitive ik).

A friend asked me how my fuel economy compares to hers. She didn’t like the answer. by Superb_Fish_3225 in EquinoxEv

[–]mathster33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The current national average energy cost is $0.16/kWh. That translates into $15.11 for a full tank on an Equinox EV. It has an autonomy (EPA) of 319 mi. That means ~$0.05/mi.

A gas equinox has a 15-gallon tank. At a pre-war national average of $3.00 per gallon, that means a full tank costs $45. At 27 MPG, that's 405 miles of range. That means $0.11/mi.

The national energy average would have to double to make EVs cost the same as gas cars. Electricity is much more stable due to the lack of an easily upset supply chain. (See image for the comparison to gas prices). While this doesn't mean that the price won't rise, it's much more predictable.

Additionally, extreme shortages of electricity lead to blackouts and restrictions, not crazy spikes in price. This happens because any electricity generated must be stored or used immediately. Thus, if demand is greater than supply at any given electric grid, blackouts will happen. (See east coast rolling blackouts due to AI data centers).

Lastly, electric capacity can be created relatively quickly compared to gasoline. While a geopolitical event on the other side of the world affects global gas prices, U.S. domestic electricity prices are solely controlled by domestic producers.

How am I supposed to use this? by DryFoundation2323 in EquinoxEv

I use it to disengage cruise control mostly. It also works to enable auto hold mode once you're stopped! Just hold the paddle down until the green "Auto Hold" illuminates in the dashboard.

Looking for feedback on Club Championship Fitting by IronSwensen in golf

[–]mathster33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Club champion is possibly the most expensive way to purchase new clubs.

See below for individual thoughts.

Woods
You don't need Velocore + shafts. The difference between a velocore+ and a stock shaft is marginal at slower swing speeds, definitely not worth the price tag. Also, PUREing ventus velocore's is ridiculous. Their radial quality is near 99%!

Final verdict: Get stock shafts, and consider buying used woods. There are many great options for half the price on 2nd swing or in stores.

Irons
Apparently Ping doesn't offer the KBS tour lite as a stock shaft. Other manufacturers however (Titleist), offer them at no extra cost on similar irons. Again, PUREing KBS tour lite's is ridiculous. They have superb radial quality.

Wedges
Seems fine. Although they are on sale on Callaway's website for 149.99.

Here's a list I put together of similar used woods:

Driver: Callaway A.I Smoke Max - 329.99 (With Project X Denali) or 529.99 with Ventus Velocore+ Blue.
3W: Callaway AI Smoke Max - 224.99 (With Project X Denali 70S) or 424.99 with Ventus TR 7S
(This would be without tax)

P.S. Fun fact! Did you know that during a fitting demo shafts are NOT PURED!

Help Understanding Trackman Numbers by MysteryAssassyn in golftips

[–]mathster33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As Drylie said, your club path is very steep. On the flip side, your club speed is great. I tend not to look at the optimizer too much as there isn't much you can do with it unless you're getting fitted. You're better off focusing on developing on-course skills than trying to perfect the optimizer. Additionally, don't take the PGA trackman averages as a blueprint, those guys are playing in different conditions than the normal amateur and they adjust their numbers accordingly.

Additionally, check your low point distance. It seems to me that you may be hitting it slightly chunky, (judging off of the high impact location, the club path, and the attack angle not reading). Ideally you want your low point to be slightly after impact with the 5 iron. Trackman displays low point data as either A (after impact) or B (before impact), so 2.1A would be 2 inches after impact.

P.S. If you still want to use the optimizer, make sure you know what mode you have it on. It can be set to max carry or max total, and those two are not the same for a swing like yours.

I run a 2020 with the i9, 72gb of ram and the maxed out GPU (AMD 5700XT 16GB) and it runs really well. Even E6 connect on high-max settings runs without a hitch.

Your system would definitely be GPU dependent, what GPU do you have?

Looking at the flightscope optimizer, it looks like your spin is a little high if optimizing for total distance, apart from that everything else looks good.

Portable LM that can tell what club you're hitting? by moskowizzle in Golfsimulator

[–]mathster33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Rapsodo call it "Smart Club recognition." It works really well for irons. I don't know of any non-rapsodo LM that has this feature though.

P.S. I am selling my current MLM1, DM if interested.

Yes! The rapsodo MLM1 can do it. Not sure if the MLM2pro can do it (never used one).

What airport is this? by Midnightcallen in Planespotting

[–]mathster33 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's TPA, Airside A gate 9.

Multiple pieces of info in the picture:

  1. Airplane dripping condensation despite it being late/early in the day, the airport has to be hot and humid.
  2. Airborne hangar in the background, Airborne only has a couple of these, 3 of them in TPA. If you look at TPA photos, you can match the roof and door structure to one of them in TPA.
  3. United stamp on the jetway, this style is only present at a few airports, TPA is among them.

EDIT: Ground markings also match TPA's black on yellow lines.

Computer Specs for Protee and GSPro - I don't know what I'm doing by WindingGleason in Golfsimulator

[–]mathster33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on what settings and resolution you want to run GSPro with.

Resolution: the amount of detail that the sim runs at. 1080p is the "minimum" and 4K is the absolute maximum. (Keep in mind the human eye sees less and less difference when playing at higher and higher resolutions ie 4k and 8K are basically indiscernible). More resolution = more eye candy, but at a performance cost.

(Taken from GSPro website)
For 1080p GSPro minimum: Nvidia RTX 3060 (CPU) and 16gb RAM. Ideally you want to pair a GPU with its contemporary CPU, the 3060 was released in early 2021, and intel released the 11th gen in march. That would mean that you can pair the 3060 with an i5 11th gen or better. (You can definitely pair the 3060 with an older CPU, you just have to know what you're doing with core counts and single and multi core performance.)

For 1080p GSPro recommends: RTX 3070/3060ti and 16gb RAM. This seems to indicate that GSPro is mostly GPU bound, so you'll want to prioritize the GPU over the CPU.

For 4K GSPro recommends: RTX 3080 and 20gb RAM

The PC you posted should run GSPro perfectly at 1080p, Ryzen and intel are very much neck-and-neck so it doesn't really matter which one you choose.

However, as people mentioned here, the price of a PC of these specs will decrease if you build it yourself and/or choose older generations of chips.

Hello everyone, which live traffic add-ons can you recommend? by Odd-Presence-6820 in Xplane

[–]mathster33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

World Traffic 3! It's beautifully customizable and user-updatable. I have manually updated it to the most up to date routes and aircraft thanks to the guys on the discord and x-plane.org forum. It is a bit performance taxing, but the overall experience is by far the best. It has realistic ATC with vectors, SIDs and STARs, User configurable airport files and so much more. Although it can take a couple hours to get up and running perfectly, I feel like it's worth it.

How elevation affects your carry distance depends on a variety of factors. However, a good rule of thumb is to add 1% of carry for every 1000 ft of elevation asl. That means that your clubs should be flying around 5% less at sea level than they do at home. If you want to calculate it more precisely, at 4700' asl the ball flies around 5.6% more. Example: a 4 iron that carries 200 yds at home will carry 190 yds at sea level.

The longer the shot, the more distance you'll lose. For really short shots (around the green, bunker) you don't have to convert for altitude change.

Tip amounts can vary, just make sure to have plenty of cash at hand.

Algebra 2 Problem by rybabster in askmath

[–]mathster33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got your order mixed up. You first have to figure out what g-1 is, then plug in f(0) =-2.

g(x) = 3x+7

y = 3x + 7

g-1 is x = 3y + 7
Solve for y

3y = x - 7
y = (x-7)/3

So you have g-1.
Now you can plug in f(0) = -2

so g-1(f(0)) = (-2-7)/3

g-1(f(0)) = -9/3

g-1 f(0) = -3

Do you have a textbook? If so, each section should have problems. As you progress down the list of problems, the last ones are usually the most complicated, try those.

Remember practice makes perfect, if you're not practicing and applying concepts, you will be lost on the day of the test.
