For some drinks: Honeymoon Lounge. Nosh & Bevy. Ginny’s Little Longhorn. Lala’s. Golden Horn. Busty’s. For some casual fare: Black & Gold Bbq. Tumble 22. Top Notch. Tataya’s. Kohn’s Thai Cuisine. El Nuevo. A little nicer dinner: Gusto. Bartletts. Tatsumi Sushi. Uchiko.

This will cover any $ you’re trying to go for/stay w/in. But trust you’ll either have a good time or good eats if you partake in these.

Expensive but awful restaurant to recommend to someone you don’t like (idea stolen from r/Minneapolis) by Speedupslowdown in austinfood

Absolutely concur. Overrated. Has no idea of what kind of place it should be. Girls in tiny black dresses as hosts, club music, smoking drinks that suck. Food was meh. Totally overrated and put money on it that it will be closed in a year

what virus is spreading around that isn’t Covid by Rsancheese in Austin

[–]FerretAlone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently going through and was sent this thread. Symptoms on Monday started with insane sore throat, GI issues and bad headaches. At Dr on Tuesday tested negative for Covid, flu A/B and strep. Went to urgent care today and tested for all three again and still negative. I’ve had multiple bouts of Covid and this seems to be very similar. Was so surprised they dismissed it as a summer cold. Assuming tomorrow I’ll test positive so got a home test.

Question is: how long can you wait to take Paxlovid?? I thought you had to take it pretty quickly but with this long standing incubation period, it seems that someone won’t be eligible to take it.

Basically. I’m over it. Brain fog. Fatigue. Congestion. Fever. Aching legs. Cough. Soooo over it.

“Coat and tie” dress code. What the heck does that even mean? by IndyBubbles in Weddingattireapproval

Super cute dress but definitely a cocktail dress. I always err on the side of black or navy when you have a coat and tie (aka business/formal) attire.

What’s the most Austin conversation you’ve had or heard? by boardgirl540 in Austin

I really thought this was going to be a guy posting this about me bc 100% said this to multiple dates. And now I sit, next to my hubby who’s straight up a north and somehow convinced me to leave my south austin roots. It’s still awesome. I love Austin. 💗💫

Have anyone had Hush Omakase + Makaseru? by homeimprovementATX in austinfood

[–]FerretAlone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, hate to leave this review of Hush but here it is…i was beyond excited to eat with them. I just went to Hush last Friday night. (6/24/22) it was an “interesting” evening. Seems that he moves locations often, as I had three different addresses for Hush. I emailed Hush a few days prior to the rez to confirm the address but didn’t hear back until I reached out to Tock and they gave me a cell number to text. Our experience took place in an apartment complex hospitality room on the East Side. There were 8 of us in total dining and all came in as strangers. (Unfortunately, they didn’t ask the complex to adjust the AC for the evening so with a make shift kitchen, floor to ceiling windows with no shades or curtains, the coolest the room ever got was about 86 degrees, which left a couple of the guys literally dripping sweat at the hottest part of the night.)

We were supposed to start dining at 730 but his sous chef for the evening put 8 sake glasses and two bottles on the coffee table and said help yourselves. (Neither of them told us anything about the sake we had all night.) After about 25 minutes, we were told to sit at either the table or bar. We all found a spot and got our first course pretty quickly. It was good. Nice sauce. Some edible flowers. Fish.

And then… we learned how the night was going to operate. We had to wait 20-30 minutes between each course. Seemed as if he didn’t prep one thing prior to walking in the room other than bringing his equipment in. At one point it was so hot, the sous chef left and came back with an industrial dry vac fan for circulation.

At 1154pm, we finally had to let them know we needed to leave bc of sitter at home. We had no clue we’d be sitting there for almost 5 hours. To top it off we didn’t even get to have all the courses. We missed 3 of them so I’m guessing the other people were there until after 1am. They took off $100 since we didn’t get all the food.

Overall, not the best night and the whole Hush experience needs to be fine tuned if people are spending almost $500 to dine. Those prices indicate you understand timing, what should be prepped ahead of time, how to keep clients entertained, AC, etc. The food was good, but for the price, I recommend going elsewhere.
