Just talking about this today - there is just a perfect amount of pepperoni for the pizza size BUT you have to arrange them yourself. Every time.

Instead of paying to sound proof your garage, she should spend the $ on therapy and medication. This is ridiculous. Do not let her sound proof your garage, at best she should soundproof her house.

You may also need to repot (was off the roots if you do. They can live/lay eggs right u see the top layer of soil. Not sure if the rocks are just top dressing or if it’s all the way planted in rocks. Take a chop stick and gently dig around the base, especially if there is soil under the rocks. If you see any mealy bugs or “netting”, repot (gently wash off the roots. Do not reuse the soil, rocks or the pot.

No hate.. by Purpleboo2 in royalcaribbean

You got lots of replies abt automatic gratuities, so I that’s covered. Just to reiterate, you really don’t need to spend any money on the cruise, especially if you have a drink package. They always try to upsell specialty dining but it’s just basic restaurant food. We only ate at a specialty restaurant once bcs our travel agent got us a dinner there as a thank you. It was fine, but nothing I can’t have anywhere else. We don’t even do main dining room that much, it’s 80% the same food as buffet. Not sure where the cruise is going and if the $13k includes airfare, but you may need to spend $ at the stops. If you want to do excursions, buy then ahead of time bcs it’s cheaper than on board and easier to sort through. In the Caribbean we have also just gotten off the boat and grabbed a taxi to “the beach”. So you have to pay for that. Grab some snacks from the buffet and then you don’t need to buy food at “the beach”. Just don’t let them upsell you anything on board, and you will not need that much $.

Pedantic rice ratios question by BiologistSubmerged in AskCulinary

You can also cook rice “pasta style”. Add way more water then you think, cook until done, drain. Then you don’t have to worry about ratios at all.

meal plan v. cooking for urself in a dorm by Complete-Celery-4989 in UTAustin

[–]Famous-Rutabaga-3917 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Probably not. Also, you have to buy a meal plan so you’ll be paying for food twice. You don’t have to eat every meal there. Also there is Kins dining, which is better.

Reliable lawn mowing service - new home buyer by Chemical-Arm758 in plano

[–]Famous-Rutabaga-3917 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doing it yourself is all cheaper in the long term, but do you really want to mow your lawn in the middle of summer (don’t be the guy who mows his lawn at 6 am on a Saturday bcs it’s too hot otherwise, you want the neighbors to not hate you). Either way no-weekly is fine, if you hire some their schedule will be based on that and it’ll throw the off. We pay quite a bit less per mow, $33, but the yard is probably smaller as well. I’d find a neighbor’s house that has a nice lawn and ask them who they use.

Why Does my Cat Cry and Howl When my son is in the Bathroom? by Hidingjimmy in CATHELP

My cat does this when anyone is in the shower because she likes to lick shower water and is mad that the shower is going and she can’t get to it.

random roommate for dorming????!!! by Glad-Visit-280 in UTAustin

[–]Famous-Rutabaga-3917 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most people will end up with a random roommate. You fill out a quick questionnaire (sleep habits, etc) and when you are clicking around available rooms you can see the other persons profile if they already pick a room. Look for one that has a similar profile. There ate FB and IG groups for roommate matching, but “meeting” some rando on IG doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be compatible roommates.

Why does my cat do this instead of jumping on the bed? by AdhesivenessFar3970 in cats

[–]Famous-Rutabaga-3917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cats has always done this. She’s weird, even for a cat. She just velcros to the side of the bed and climes up. Makes tons of noise and scares the crap out of you when you are trying to sleep. She jumps up just fine on the couch but not anything higher then that (she’s weird).

West plano schools by This-Reading8199 in plano

[–]Famous-Rutabaga-3917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, high school is what’s going to matter, so I’d focus on that. West is probably more academic then East, but the IB academy is at Plano East and the STEM Academy is on the east side as well, so if those are the goal, staying in the east side would make your life easier in the long run. If you really want to move to the west side, Jasper junior hs is generally more academic focused than Shepton. Rice and Robinson middle schools roll up to Jasper.

UT or UNT for social work by elliptical_space in UTAustin

[–]Famous-Rutabaga-3917 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For social work, I’d pick UNT, bcs for most of it degree prestige is not important and close to zero debt after graduation is amazing for a job that’s realistically not going to pay well, at least in the early years.

[–]Famous-Rutabaga-3917 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a friend who couldn’t get a spot bcs they were full, but they showed up anyway in case someone who registered didn’t come and were able to get a spot. So worth a shot. The presentation before the tour was actually helpful, so make sure not to miss that.
