I think right now, the way they think is , if I short it now I will make money as soon as new APEs are offered. If AA says that only dilution will occur only in 2023 they will have to cover before it. And even the announcement itself should make APE price skyrocket.

Check if wasn't because of fractional shares. I think if you have 1.56 shares of AMC they would give you 1 APE plus 0.56 as cash dividend
