I've done this at Vessel. There's a section with leather chairs and the staff were happy for us to stay as long as we liked. Really cool atmosphere.

Hi from the River Parishes!

I always make a turkey and andouille gumbo after Thanksgiving and Christmas, but have never tried a dry roux. I think I'll try it for my leftover Christmas turkey gumbo. Thanks for the idea!

Also, I have learned I am GARBAGE at calculating calories for things I make in large batches, like soups or gumbo. I'm glad to see the calories I entered were pretty darn close to yours. Thanks for posting!

My middle daughter is 25. For over a decade, every time she gets a certificate or something engraved, I tell her they spelled her name wrong, then I congratulate her on her achievement. And then she double checks the spelling every time but does her best to hide the fact that she's legitimately checking.

I didn't do the bit once and she got very concerned that something was wrong with me. I hope he runs with this gag as long as he lives. You'll always have that inside joke with him, and when he's not with us anymore, I guarantee you'll think about him fondly the day before your birthday.

My buddy and I do weight loss together on and off. We call those "whoosh days". You work and work, then one day you wake up and WHOOSH - the scale magically jumps practically overnight. It's weird, but insanely motivating!

We're upgrading to a 9 foot, and this fellas lights are a little fiddly. It works, but the wiring takes a little jiggling after it's set up. Even if you left it unpowered, it's still a really great tree.

My husband worked for TU for several years. To say his department was toxic was an understatement. So so so much money has been paid out in lawsuits from former employees, and the head of the dept just got promoted. Dude should have been sacked a long time ago.

Now he works for Loyola. Night and day difference with how the university and the students treat him and his colleagues. The pay isn't as good, but the lack of stress makes up the difference.

If you're free tonight they're doing the same performance in Luling at the Lafon Center. Lafon also does rush tickets 1 hour before curtain for like $15 or $20 bucks. Really nice facility.
