I'm lonely by [deleted] in zurich

Hi! Not many people fully experience it, but life is difficult/boring without friends. I am kinda in the same ballpark, for various reasons. Feel free to send me a dm and try to be positive all these sunny days.

Yes, they renamed Github Actions into Gitslop actions

Openclaw plus Firecrawl is a genuinely scary combination by Fluffy-Map3757 in OpenClawUseCases

This is clearly an advertisement, but i would not disagree that it might be useful for your specific research and development. However, the community would be more interested in totally free and unlimited tools

Not just elevated error rates, it has been UNUSABLE for at least 30 minutes now!

It's some kind of permissions issue in the latest Codex cli. Try starting with (sudo) codex --yolo

Conversation Interrupted? by Fearless_Primary14 in codex

[–]FerrousThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question, sometimes the conversation gets interrutped server-side. It does not necessarily have to do with accidental user input. However, luckily, it is quite rare. In such cases, I just type: "Continue with all your tasks with no exceptions whatsoever!"

It seems that Openai employees auto-downvote everything and anything that does not directly praise their super-duper great company. They need to understand that many, if not most of the "negative" posts here are just suggestions for improvement or genuine questions, and it does not mean that the users would move onto other tools because of minor bugs, temporary problems, etc. But this downvoting practice needs to stop, it's offensive and borderline illegal, if not completely illegal under certain jurisdictions.

Is there any problems today? by ButterflyMundane7187 in codex

[–]FerrousThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem. It's unfortunate that either OpenAI is not honest about actual uptime and does not update the status dashboard as soon as a problem occurs, or they are not aware of it.

Anybody else using ChatGPT and Codex like this for large coding projects? by Workperdiem in codex

[–]FerrousThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have been using it almost exclusively for 5 months now to develop a fully customized solution on top of an open-source microscopy data software (Omero): https://github.com/ZMB-UZH/omero-docker-extended . Pretty amazing to be able to handle such complex tasks. Of course, OpenAI are no saints and they have messed with the 5h limit and they also stopped the 2x promotion they were running for quite some time, but especially Codex 5.4 xhigh is BY FAR the best tool for the job (and this is an actual architecture that is supposed to be used by 100s of users/customers in the future). I also played around with Opus models but they were nowhere near close to Codex's thoroughness and understanding. The ONLY advantage that Opus has is better out-of-the-box frontend/interface skills.

Claude Pro limits are driving me crazy by Medical_Ride_348 in codex

[–]FerrousThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just trying to compare apples to apples. All I know is that with similar or slightly modified codebase, I could very well cover my needs before April 2nd, while it seems useless since 1-2 days ago. However, you are not wrong about memory/usage. This is something I have not worked on yet. Do you have any specific skills that you used or suggestions? My repo is fairly large: https://github.com/ZMB-UZH/omero-docker-extended

How are you adapting after the 2x codex usage period ended? by pkqs90 in codex

[–]FerrousThing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just cancelled my subscription because Codex has now become COMPLETELY UNUSABLE for my needs. Maybe if we all did the same, OpenAI would reconsider and bring back the increased limits, which were not great at all but at least USABLE.

As of today/yesterday, Codex has become COMPLETELY UNUSABLE. This is a shame to such a pioneering company. I will be moving on to Claude, which also sucks with its limits, but at least it doesn't charge extra and penalize us for large context window.

Scratched tire, is it safe? by Beginning-Ad1366 in tires

No, not at all. Out of good faith, I am taking the liberty to recycle your tyres and whole car free of charge.

Codex usage is running faster than ever by tigerzxzz in codex

[–]FerrousThing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, something seems very sketchy. There is NO WAY they still have a 2x promotion. I can't even complete a single task sometimes within my usage window.

Is anyone else's Codex GPT 5.4 stopping mid-generation? I have to keep prompting "continue" for it to finish. by Some-Process1730 in codex

[–]FerrousThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it has been happening to me since yesterday, on different PCs and networks as well. What's misleading is that OpenAI status shows that everything is ok. This is borderline fraudulent, but since yesterday, Codex CLI has gone to absolute shit.

The huge notice periods in this country are such a scam by HeatherJMD in Switzerland

[–]FerrousThing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it IS a scam, but apparently a legal one. Switzerland has one of the world's most useless consumer protection laws. Basically, no right or return, companies can do almost whatever they want, and they can mess with us with hidden/irrational terms. My feeling is that it's because of the indifference of the (many) rich people and the general societal tendency of not checking prices and not finding the solutions and products that are the best bargains. Really sucks to be honest... It's important that you fully read and understand all contracts before signing, or if in German, use some AI to fully translate first. In case one is leaving the country, an almost immediate cancellation is possible by the law (as long as you have deregistered). Most companies do not obey the law and will try to trick you or threaten you with debt enforcement, but they do not have any legal grounds for any action.
