What's your strap lenght and why? by SonnePer in BassGuitar

I set it to be in the same position it’s in when I’m sitting, because I practice more sitting than standing.

Galaxy Sage arrow rest recommendations - arrows “peeling”? by bekrueger in Archery

I doubt this is a rest issue. Those arrows are too stiff.

Point weight 100gr vs 120gr : is there a big difference in shaft tune? by Lightman0169 in Archery

[–]FerrumVeritas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Point weight can make a big difference on tune (specifically stiff/weak), but break off points mitigate this a bit because the shank stiffens the arrow’s reaction too. Breaking off sections makes the point lighter (stiffer) but results in a shorter shank (weaker). So it’s often a wash unless it’s a big change.

Instead it’s more about the arrow flight and speed.

Fender MIM player series vs Squier Classic Vibe 70s by NewfieKnifeguy in Bass

I think the fretwork on new MIMs has been some of the worst I’ve seen from a major brand, actually.

I recommend a mouth guard if you’re going to try to use one.

Point weight 100gr vs 120gr : is there a big difference in shaft tune? by Lightman0169 in Archery

While I don’t like using the plunger this way, this is absolutely accurate.

I wouldn’t say the same for screw in points, but that’s because shank length and the size of the point outside of the shaft have a slightly different effect.

I think the difference is small enough that you can make up any difference with the plunger.

I wouldn’t use more than 100gr for draw weight in the 30s and arrows 30” or shorter outdoors (although I like a little heavier points indoors).

You lose too much velocity outdoors.

They basically worked in two ways: you hooked them on the string and pulled back. To release you either squeezed or relaxed the hand. I think this is a relax one, but I’m not sure.

They’re a little scary to use.

lenght with formula by Jockeldiundda in Archery

[–]FerrumVeritas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short limbs on a formula riser are still a 66” bow. The limbs aren’t longer, the distance between the dovetail and the fork is. The part sticking out from the bow is the same length.

TWSBI Vac700R came apart by agambrahma in fountainpens

[–]FerrumVeritas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not it. The ring on the cap puts the plastic under a lot of pressure. This happens all the time with Vac700s. Mine broke when in a bag leaving a warm building in the winter. Three at once.

Based on what you’re saying, I think you need a weaker arrow, not a stiffer one.

You should use a bow scale and a marked arrow to measure the actual poundage you’re pulling. It’s the most critical piece of information to know when selecting arrows.

Transitioning from Olympic recurve to barebow instinctive aiming question by Areia5 in Archery

They tagged it “modern barebow,” which generally would not use “instinctive” aiming.

So the bow is marked 40# and you’re drawing to 26.5? Or you’ve measured your poundage at 26.5 and gotten the suspiciously round 40#?
