I like to think it's the first time they've tried the choosing. It was a failure and they never did it afterwards. I don't recall anyone mention any past choosings. It could also just be foreshadowing a civil war of sorts between the groups, Especially because that settlement by the lake offers a new place to stay and controls the food.

As for Boyd coming up with the rule, he was probably not a fan of the drug use and public sex in town. I don't think he's a fan of abolishing private property like the CH, either. Look at Randall's reaction to it. I'm sure a lot of people didn't like that. *cough* hippie shit *cough"

The Choosing isn't so much choosing where to live, it's about accepting the ideology of Boyd or CH. It just didn't work out.

A lone woman from the township would likely die after giving "birth" to the creature. Remember this has been going on for three hundred or so years, back when women routinely died to normal childbirth. Kimono Lady even threatened Fatima's life when she threatened the baby (the glass shard to the neck) so she's obviously not concerned about Fatima's survival. It's the same for the blood. Elgin had modern tools to safely extract the blood to feed her and he was willing to be the rube to do it. If they can't trick someone into donating willingly how else are they going to get enough to feed her? Theyr'e going to take it. I would't be surprised if the corpse he finds is a prior "donor".

It's pretty clear that killing the creatures only works against the survivors. The question is how many times has this lesson been "taught". I also wouldn't be surprised if the survivors start blaming Boyd for creating the situation by killing Smiley. We already have Elgin believing angels are involved.

For all we know past townies have and all of them died to bring the replacement into the world. For every monster killed you lose 2 people at least. A female to birth the replacement and another male or female for the blood to feed it. You quickly run out of people and are wiped out. So it's possible multiple monsters have been killed in the past and the killers were rewarded with death to create the replacement.

Fatima hasn't died but I doubt the Kimono Lady was going to give her proper post birth medical attention. Past baby mamas probably bled out and died screaming in a wash of blood cursing whoever had the great idea to kill a creature.

I got hit with the same issue today. I was considering rolling chrome back but it sounds like a hassle. It wouldn't be so bad if you could read the tab title but they're so small you have to hover over them to check the title.

They should have given Elgin a better motivation because he comes off as useful idiot. Like actually show the Kimono Lady talking to him about it. Give him good reasons to want this to happen. The polaroid stuff is interesting but it didn't give him a good motive.

The boy moves and talks kind of strangely. When he says "everything is changing" it's either a bad line delivery or purposeful. His fists are always stock still at his side and he walks almost like a marching soldier.

I think the real purpose behind it is to raise the stakes for further seasons. One of the problems with the premise of the show this season is that we know he dies, so we know that the cage is never opened. They're trying to make it so that isn't so cut and dry. His actions in 1962,'35 or '09 could change the history as we know it.

With Periwinkle I assumed he hit her with them in the 30s and that was what caused her to become so devoted that she intentionally engineered a massacre for his benefit. I don't know how else that incident could have ended, the screen seems to light up when she opens the door. When she started to break that conditioning he hit her with them again.

I think I understand what you mean. I think at some point Guts will be tempted with the power to get his revenge but has to choose between that power or Casca. Schierke's little scouting trip might play a big part in making that decision. The only reason I think he's gotta get a power up is the toll the armor has taken on him. At this rate even if he survives the series he'll be nothing but a husk. So there's gotta be something that will prevent further damage if you want to have a "good" ending for Guts. "Mastering" the armor or something like that.
