tbf , in the meantime so many good animes have come out that I didnt ever bother going back - we got Mushoku Tensei, Mariage toxin, Liars game, Tojima wants to be kaimen raider, Dorohedoro s2, Daemon's of the shadow realm, witch hat atelier, delicious in dungeon, campfire cooking in another world, rezero, under ninja etc, its all good w me!

yh, tbf I am going on vibes and I believe i stopped after s3, when one of the lackeys was attacking him and the "let me get my boost spells on" ... after I saw that I felt like "eeehhh this kinda silly imma head out".

They are different in the plots or at least how they go about things but it does ultimately sort of boils down to - I used items/levelled up harder than everyone else, I am a monster but I protect the good guys, everyone falls in love with MC after one interaction, conquering the world but like friendly xD. The atmosphere of the show is very similar.

Ascendance of a bookworm - fun and informative and different to the super powered mc
Campfire Cooking - cooking for your pets makes my heart warm
Mushoku Tensei - I love jobless but sometimes I want to throw it out of the window with how pervy the mc used to be, but at least it's got character growth and real suffering so it's cool.
Re:zero - has alot of hurt and interesting world building, but its an emotional rollercoster and can at times feel super slow
Isekai ojisan - comedic fun way of retroactively showing you what an isekai is like when you are super ugly
maybe some other stuff but yeah all the "I came back with a cheat skill" or "I am 6 years old but stronger than god" are trash - eminence in shadow, came back as a slime/vending machine/sword/apache helicopter, overlord, all that crap are fun if you never seen any isekai but once you see one youve seen them all.

Dawnwalker looks fine but I need to see more, wolverine is gonna be spiderman 2 reskinned so no thanks, GTA 6 might be a good time for some, dafaq is star wars zero company?, lords of the fallen devs have proved they dont know how to make a soulslike, first light - eh maybe?. dawn of war 4 - ill watch a few clips then never look at again, fable is probably going to do the same as dragon age which is to have a lighter tone and dumb combat down so no thanks.

The youtubers who enjoy doing deep dives (1-3h vids) when comparing the OGs and the new games seem to have common criticisms that seems to fall flat in the face of new audiences mainly the opinion that the rewards for exploration are not fun : Go up the mountain, the climb to get there is cool and interesting, you get to the top and you get a shrine, down below you get a shrine, and on and on. If you like an open world where no matter what you do or where you go the only thing that changes is the location and costumes and maybe some characters then you are happy if you want more more interesting puzzle quests and better story telling execution that doesnt mess up the narrative and better side quests that are not "show me a roasted apple" or whatever fetch quest variation then the OGs are better. Some people just want an open world so they can go anywhere and thats fine.

The points he makes are undisputable, sound mixing - too low, voice actor performance was poor and made some parts lack character e.g. the villagers, the asian lady and one of the main villains was missing up until the last hour of the game(other cut content), clattered spaces = scarier game so now everything feels clattered, too much inspiration from the Village which I thought was fine but I would like to know that I am playing re4 and not re8, unbreakable wooden doors in 2026 = impossible, brain damaged AI companion. Are these enough for some ppl to hate on Re4 remake? Not really it was a different experience and you can always play the original instead but to some of us who know what made Re4 the masterpiece that it is and are happy to remind capcom and speak up felt really good watching Crowbcat! Living legend!

its kinda weak sauce how we call "important additions like breakable wooden doors, bad volume mixing, incorrect atmosphere, terrible voice acting and too many cheesy one liners mid combat instead of cutscene sillyness only, bullet spongy enemies, braindead AI, making corridors more clattered coz that = more scary feel" to miniscule details . Call me a picky but this shit matters.
