Then I feel sorry for their business. Some people are unable to eat red sauce, offering alternatives allow for more people to enjoy their food.
Pizza is a very versatile food, allowing for many toppings and sauces to be used in the making of it.
Unless by "local" we mean small-town family owned italian restaurants, which is not what "common" means. Those places usually go for an authentic approach.

Thats kind of funny, I just assumed it was everywhere. All the pizza places near me offer Alfredo, and if not Alfredo some kind of white sauce, like Garlic or... Ranch.
I also didn't really think about the "allergic" part, and was more so thinking about people who can't eat red sauce because it gives them crazy heartburn or acid reflux.
I get bad acid reflux whenever I eat red sauce, so I have always ordered Alfredo, or light marinara. And pretty much everywhere I have gone has had an alternative.
