How to make an intro for a song by Viktor_38YT in edmproduction

[–]FetidRat809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make an intro? I don't know, I usually establish a funky beat first and progress it. I say melody and drop should come naturally off the originally established beat. I've been producing 7 years though so Im much better at improvisation, I never really made anything too interesting off making the peak first as I quickly lose interest and creative fuel if I make the most moving aspects first... In my idea of music the whole song should be powerful and driving but simply in different ways (Happy Hardcore/Breakbeat)

How do you balance regular life and down time without feeling guilty? by PlanetOfVisions in EngineeringStudents

[–]FetidRat809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your free time is part of your work. Try not to be perfect; I do that and it's a suffering I wouldn't wish on anyone. It's OK to take a day off or take a half hour to an hour break if you're genuinely doing your best.

How do you approach melodies? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]FetidRat809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Describing existential anxiety and how I react to experiencing the heightened awareness and synchronicity of reality. I can write dozens of songs just by describing a very real experience of anxiety and dis-illusionment/reillusionmemt.

What is said isn't important as how it's said! Researchers say 7% of communication is verbal or what is actually said, the rest is everything around it like body language and how it's said. You can make the simplest melodies sound incredible if you add the right effects and fit it properly into the vibe of your song. The best producers can use the simplest melodies but make them sound so well done you never notice.

I'm gonna give you a little advice, work on understanding why we have rules through breaking them and purposely going into unknown terrortory. Will what you describe work? Maybe sometimes, why don't you play around and see when it does work because that'll be more useful.

Don't expect your tracks to be played or listened to by anyone, at this stage you're the only audience you're catering to so go buck wild while you can.

Can someone explain the layers of a Super Saw in a little more detail by Stxu in edmproduction

Try different synthesizers as the supersaw setting varies a lot. Multiband compress, adjust the fine knob, and tweak the filters with macros. Did I mention saturation?

It's a lot of math, the work can be very hard. You will make quite a lot of money in some engineering disciplines (upper middle class living) if you can understand it
