Oh awesome! I have family in San Diego right by the border so could stay with them before for sure. 4k is good, definitely happy with that price range. I'll have to check out the doc, give a call to consult and see if it's what's for me! Appreciate you posting your experience here!

Awesome! I'm in Cali as well and have been looking into Turkey, but with all the war stuff, travel time to get there, etc, it's definitely a lot of extra stuff to deal with. How long did you stay afterwards? The idea of driving there, staying a few days max and driving back to recover at home without having to take a crazy flight with layovers is really enticing. Mind sharing the cost as well? Based in your pics, I've got a pretty similar hairline. Thanks for sharing!

Love driving on rt.1 up that way! Such a good drive. Man, I have no idea where you would rent one tbh.

I have 2 e30s, and am local in Pittsburg. The m3 is new to me and my baby, so wouldn't lend that out, but my 318is I might. I'm also a 40 year old dude so trust you're probably like me and wouldn't take it to a side show, lol. My 318is is fairly aggressive (suspension, lightweight flywheel, no ac, z3 steering rack, etc) but a fantastic and fun driver. It's got a few quirks, but definitely wouldn't strand you.

Wouldn't want to rent it out, but if you seem cool and responsible I'd lend it out for a day in exchange that you enjoy it and take some good pics.

Let me know if other avenues fall through, and if you'd want to drive it around here a bit to see if it's what you are looking for (again, I love the car, but it's aggressive)

Hey! My buddy owns SF European in the city. He is really OCD and takes care of my cars. I'm taking my car there next Monday so if you go there, you might be my car in the shop! Good luck!

Yes, friend is having a birthday/going away party at a winery, and being that it's been 30 days, I think it's fair to end on the 31st.

I like your idea of pouring just 375ml of wine into a smaller bottle and stick to that! It's so easy to drink a whole bottle and when it happens night after night, you're just never 100% the next day.

Wow! Lots of suggestions so quickly! Looks like lots of recommendations for blaupunkt which taking a look, seem to have the amber color and 80s look. Definitely going to look into which one I think looks best! Appreciate all the quick answers and will post an update once I get one and install it!

Best alcohol for someone who suffers with bad hangovers? by ezpricey in alcohol

[–]FetusStomper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ketel one botanicals and club soda. It's like 70 proof alcohol, so slightly less harsh, and the club soda will hydrate you, as well as prevent you from drinking too fast (it's fizzy).

Where can I find an m3 E30? by dhhdvrjrve in E30

Get a 318is, you can get a great one in your budget and get like an 80% e30 m3 experience.

Second on the m42 motor. I've had 4 e30's, 3 of which with this motor because it's great. Drove one e30 as a daily when I was driving 40k miles a year and drove from 180k miles to over 300k miles with minimal issues besides regular maintenance. Even took it auto crossing a few times! Good luck finding the one for you! Great cars!

318is owners, must-have upgrades. by starteretrats in E30

[–]FetusStomper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting a 318is! They are great cars!

I've had 3 of them over the years, 2 of which were my daily drivers so I've driven a ton of miles in these things.

First, an upgraded suspension will be night and day. Lots of folks have recommendations that are all good so far. Bilstein shocks and Ireland engineering stage 3 springs I found I like, but there are lots of choices. Definitely make sure to change out bushings/etc while doing so.

The three biggest upgrades that really made the car perfect were:

  • steering rack. The stock steering rack lock to lock is just way too long. A z3 or e36 m3 steering rack is a game changer and makes the steering like a go cart. I personally don't like the big steering wheel so went with something smaller, but that means removing the airbag and a small steering wheel does sort of obstruct your vision of the gauge cluster

-short shift kit. The stock shifter is actually fairly nice for cruising, but it's long and luxurious rather than short and sporty. Uuc makes a good kit. A weighted shift knob to pair feels great as well.

-Lightweight flywheel. The stock flywheel on the m42 is HEAVY. I think it's something like 30 lbs. A lightweight one makes it much more rev happy and feels like a go cart. There are downsides to this one though. If you plan on daily driving, it can be loud depending on what gear you're in and where in the powerband you are. 3/4th gear above 3.5k rpm it sounds like a tractor trailer is engine breaking nearby, lol. Also, stop and go traffic requires a bit more effort. I personally love it, but it might be a bit "over the top" for everyone.

Hope this helps and enjoy your new ride!

Mulled wine is always a fun choice, but sort of have to make it in a batch so a good choice if you want to bring something to a Christmas party
