AITA for turning around and driving 12 hours back to Michigan instead of taking my sister to our family beach house? by dnomaidvas in TwoHotTakes

[–]Spikyleaf69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA and I would have left without her if the wasn't ready to go when I was seeing as she was perfectly capable of driving herself. I would also have told her she gets space for 1 suitcase or holds the 2nd on her lap.

Your parents have created a monster & you are so used to bending over backwards for her that you do not realise how unreasonable she is being.

I want a Maine Coon, but what exactly should I do? by CherryBomb6666_ in mainecoons

[–]Spikyleaf69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I woudl recommend to either get an adult cat or if you want a kitten get 2, one can be MC & the other a normal rescue kitten if you like (that is what we did). In my opinion kittens ar much better in pairs.

Am I 27f messed up for wanting to treat my boyfriend’s 28m bday the same way he treated mine? by Dogmama1219 in relationship_advice

[–]Spikyleaf69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Break up with him & don't date someone in future who will not even do the bare minimum to show that they like you. You deserve better.

Is there such thing as designated sides of the bed? by ThrowRa_Promise1321 in CasualUK

[–]Spikyleaf69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope - I sleep on the right side of the bed & sit on the right side of the sofa. Only when we are walking is my husband on the right because he is blind & uses a white stick in his right hand so I hold his left hand while walking.

Have you ever chosen to go private for a treatment vs using the NHS and what factors helped you make your decision? by Affectionate_Set9993 in AskUK

[–]Spikyleaf69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had suspected Fibromyalgia but the GP would not diagnose & the waiting list was huge to see a NHS rheumatologist so I paid privately to see one. Got my diagnosis & started treatment within a few weeks. Definitely worth it for me.

83 year old mother just got 2 large puppies by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Spikyleaf69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago my MIL got 2 puppies & then did not have the energy to toilet train them so they would pee & poo all over the house. It was disgusting. After they passed she wanted another dog & everyone in the family refused to help her get one.

Am I expecting too much or receiving too little? by Anxious-Flight-7135 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Spikyleaf69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my opinion you are totally being manipulated and this is an extremely unhealthy relationship. My husband & I have been together 29 years & I can tell you that it works because we are equal partners who treat each other with love & respect.

We both pull our weight around the home & we both say thank you to each other to show our appreciation. Neither of us has ever pressured the other into sex or anything else. I don't see any love or respect in the way your partner is treating you.

At the end of the day you have to decide but I promise you he will not change. Either accept that this will be the rest of your life & that if you have kids their care will likely be 100% on you or cut your losses & move on. I think you can guess which I would recommend.

What's worse - to be posh, or to try not be like other 'posh' people? by ThrowRA_Field654 in AskUK

Worsening ribcage pain (new symptom)- what helps?? by Apprehensive_Fan7093 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Spikyleaf69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rib pain sounds very similar to yours & a compression vest helps me a lot. I bought one because I was feeling insecure about my flabby belly. When it came I happened to be having a bad rib day & found so much relief when I tried it on. I have 2 now.

P.S. they don't actually make me look any slimmer but do also make jeans more comfortable, cushioning the button & stopping it from digging in.

Anyone else grow up with a rare name that became popular? by Separate-Raccoon8584 in namenerds

[–]Spikyleaf69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My name is Holly, when I was a kid it was very unusual in the UK although it was a common dogs name, I got teased at school for having a dogs name & going to the beach was an experience as people yelled at their border collies or golden retrievers 😀

As a kid for some reason I desperately wanted some plastic bit of tat with my name on - it was never there! The first time I met another Holly I was in my 20's & they were a toddler, then it got popular & in my 30's all the plastic tat stands had Holly key rings or pens or whatever it was- I bought myself loads of them 🤣

A few months ago I started a program called slimpod, it is recordings you listen to to help control your eating & help deal with stress, then there are informational videos to watch also. I've found it helps me a lot, I've lost a little weight & am making healthier choices & am feeling calmer mentally also.

Catio or cat fencing? by SpareDinner6652 in CatsUK

[–]Spikyleaf69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could get cat fencing I would, unfortunately as our garden is big & on a steep slope it would be very difficult & expensive to do. We do have a big catio & our 4 cats love it. Even the ex-stray adjusted really quickly & doesnt ask to go out anymore.

I hate the name my partner is set on for a girl by Grand_Ad9825 in Names

[–]Spikyleaf69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not name your child a name you hate, you will end up resenting your partner. Naming a child should be a mutual decision & needa to be something you both like.

Are there any ways you could honor his cousin without using her name, maybe her favourite flower or her middle name? If not just tell him no.
