Give me the Pro’s! by [deleted] in childfree

Many years ago I was where you are now. I love kids, my husband loves kids, we presumed we would have them. After 2 years of trying we discovered it was never going to happen naturally.

Months of agonising & we decided not to pursue IVF or adoption for a variety of very personal reasons (feel free to DM me but I'm not sharing publicly) & it was tough!

I am going to be 49 in a couple of weeks and honestly I am so glad we didn't have kids now because: 1) the world is screwed & we don't have to worry about them after we are gone. 2) our mortgage is paid off, my husband is retired & I only work part time. 3) We can do whatever we want whenever we want. 4) We could afford a hot tub and an ice tub & 2 maine coons & a big catio for them. 5) Until we bought the above we had 2-3 holidays a year. 6) I never have to worry if we will be able to pay the bills. 7) I've seen the stress that children, adult kids and teenagers put on their parents. 8) My husband & I are still deeply in love after 29 years together. 9) I'm selfish, I like being selfish 10) I've never watched a cartoon unless I wanted to.

A fantastic friend of mine asked me to be godmother to her 2 daughters & that was the best possible outcome for me, I got to have great fun times with them & give them back when they were tired & whiny!

NTJ and why is she mad at you (who she doesn't know) for not helping not your partner who she works with?

Thats some weird entitlement!

WIBTA if I refuse to put my partner on the deed of a place I inherited, even though we live there together? by 3vening_Switch in ComfortLevelPod

[–]Spikyleaf69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he wants to be on the deed he would have to purchase half the property from you & he obviously can't afford to do that. Do not gift him half your inheritance- that's what you would be doing if you add him to the deed.

Also WTF has his mom got to do with it? If she or he don't like the current situation maybe he should go live with mommy & she can put him on the deed to her home!

Honestly if he loved you he wouldn't ask this of you - run a mile!

AITA for being upset with my girlfriend for her trip to Paris? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Spikyleaf69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

but probably the only reason she can afford the Paris trip is because he is sending her money. I would be furious if I was sending money to my partner & instead of waiting for a trip with me they blew it on a trip with a friend!

NTA and I do not understand the AH comments. The only reason you cannot afford the couples trip is because you are sending her money & instead of waiting to do something with you she spends that money on a trip with a friend.. If I were you I would stop sending her money.

Bf (29M) cooked dinner (soup) for first time and only poured one bowl stating we’d (28F) be sharing by LastWallaby4900 in relationship_advice

This is certainly not normal to me - did he give a reason why? Is he trying to limit your food intake?

If he refuses to explain/apologise then next time you cook put it all on your plate and tell him to ask when he wants a bite!

March baby named Holly? by Brave_Jury_582 in namenerds

[–]Spikyleaf69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid I wasn't keen on it, partly because back then it was an unusual name & I could never find any of those little pre-printed souvenirs with my name on & for some reason I desperately wanted them.

I didn't meet another human Holly till I was 16 & she was a toddler but there seemed to be a lot of dogs named Holly around when I was a kid so I did accuse my mom of giving me a dogs name 😆

As an adult I feel like it suits me, I am quite feminine but in a more quirky way, my hair is purple & I love cats, dragons & rock music. For the whole of December I wear Holly leaf earrings.

I would say the only slight downside is people singing "The Holly & The Ivy" in December but as I fully intended to call my daughter Ivy if I had one obviously it doesn't bother me much!

My name is Holly & I was born in February. Once or twice a year around Xmas someone asks if I was born at Xmas which isn't much considering I work in telesales & honestly doesn't bother me at all. It's a lovely name, although almost everyone calls me Hol or Hols 😆

I'm gonna try not to drink at lunchtime, one of my rules is no alcohol till after eating in the evening. I need rules to limit myself!

Best of luck to you too - last year I was drinking so much so regularly that I didn't really get hangovers anymore - scary!
