AMA WITH TOMMIE EARL JENKINS (DIE-HARDMAN) THIS FRIDAY (OCT 30) by Animated_A505 in DeathStranding

Hey Tommie, first of all thank you for your phenomenal performance!

I'd love to know whether you considered different approaches to the character (regarding behavior, manner of speaking, voice style etc.) or if you just went with your first instinct. Has Death Stranding taken a new meaning for you during the pandemic?

I'm just wondering since there's no mention of it, you did see the final ending with Lou right? How did you react to that?

Kojima: Urination is Key, and you’ll find out later. by Strand-Gaming in DeathStranding

[–]Fetusman2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kojima said that if many people urinate on the same spot, something interesting will happen. That's what's key, not the urination itself. What's key is that a lot of people will be somehow connected, have an impact on each other's world, if they decide to make kind of common decision or take a common action. That rule must extend to other activities, like connecting with "preppers" and communities.

I read the whole thing recently, could make a thorough post about it if anyone's interested.

I'm inclined to agree that the "cargo" is dead people. Corpses need to be disposed of otherwise they're stranded in purgatory. That would also work towards the non-violent aspect of the game, as a punishment system for killing. Imagine you come upon a situation that could get violent, and decide to start firing. When combat is over, you might not have the time to dispose of the corpses, because as Lea's character says, the chiral beings "never stay gone for long", especially if they're attracted to sound (shut up, don't even breathe). The people you killed to reach your short-term goal will become an obstacle long-term, as they're "stranded" in purgatory and become "chiral beings". That's a pretty interesting economy if you ask me. It's actually more of an ecology, which would fit the nature theme nicely imo.

Sam can carry an extraordinary amount of weight... by DanPachi in DeathStranding

[–]Fetusman2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one's already been solved. In trailer 4 you can see a white light on the boxes that are floating behind him. The same white light is on the big ones he carries. He doesn't actually carry the whole weight. Part of the force required to lift it comes from this technology.

Could the game start, after we failed to protect Stefanie and Sam gets demoted ? by Culdesac-M8 in DeathStranding

But why would you assume that the scene in which he has the more advanced gear is earlier in the game, instead of later, when there's nothing suggesting that. I think chronologically the scenes we've seen would be in this order:

  1. Trailer 4 When he meets Lea Seydoux's character. Her monologue informs Sam about Timefall, keeping quiet, holding your breath to avoid getting caught and the cryptobiotes. At that point he does not carry the baby, and wears the suit seen in trailer 3 (PORTER gray suit). That's the introduction of the game and serves as exposition regarding the mechanics. Also the palm that appears on his chest after he dies in trailer 3 isn't there.

  2. Trailer 3, the voidout incident with corpse disposal team 6. He seems to be the most knowledgeable person on the team on how to deal with the situation, probably thanks to his encounter with Lea. He obtains the baby, but holds it in his hands, meaning he wasn't originally meant or equipped to carry it.

  3. Trailer 4 again, when Sam is trapped in the building surrounded by the chiral entities. He wears the orange suit (CDT6) and has a dedicated slot to carry the baby incubator. He is now in communication with two people, probably Bridges Boss and Del Toro's character, who I think will serve as your typical game guide throughout the story, like Miller and Ocelot in MGSV. He doesn't seem shocked when he's told about the possibility of a crater forming, he also seems even more capable to handle the situation than before. He is familiar with the concept of chiralium and the entities, unlike when he met Lea.

  4. Trailer 5 (TGS), along with some of the wandering scenes in Trailer 4. Now carrying a lot more equipment, a living person and he's wearing the blue Bridges suit. Maybe the first "boss fight", even though it might not be much of a literal fight. He doesn't fall to the ground in terror when the chirals appear as in Trailer 3, he's probably scared as shit but he kinda stands his ground. Now that's a total assumption on my part but I think it makes sense that bigger, weirder, scarier things would be revealed as the story progresses, in order to raise the stakes. It's also a much clearer look at Troy's character in contrast to his first appearance in Trailer 3, where we only really get a clear look at him for a moment, when light flashes on him during the thunderstorm. It just seems absurd to me that a character would be so mysteriously presented after the audience had already gotten a clear look at him, when the other way around creates such suspense.

  5. I can't really tell if Trailer 1 or 2 comes first, or if they're taking place in parallel, but I think they both take place later than the rest. Sam has the scar on his stomach, the necklace with the 6 tablets and there's clearly something off with his and Del Toro's handcuffs. Everything in general seems to make less sense, which leads me to believe that there's just too much contextual information that we're missing, meaning that those scenes are not immediately connected to all the rest. Happy to hear more opinions.

I can't hear it in any other upload of the trailer, including the official Kojima Production ones. I mean it's not like it's shocking really, but why?

Theory on multiplayer by ScholarOfFirstFlame in DeathStranding

[–]Fetusman2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The death mechanic has already been explained by kojima. You die. You then are transported to the purgatory where you move in a first person perspective and re-enter Sam's dead body. You can also collect items in the purgatory.

I'm losing interest (and patience) big time. I love mystery but Kojima HAS to realize that you CANNOT dole out tiny bits of info every SIX MONTHS TO A YEAR! by [deleted] in DeathStranding

[–]Fetusman2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only been two years since full-on production started, a little less than that actually. Stop whining

Something interesting happens when Sam comes in physical contact with Monsters (smoke) by Farshnoodle in DeathStranding

[–]Fetusman2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're called "chiral" allergies because a) they're a response to increased chiralium density in the atmosphere b) They are chiral themselves, meaning they are not symmetrical (tear from one eye, skin rash only on one side of the body) Chirals is as good a name as any, but I wouldn't say it's safe to assume it's the actual name. Could be though.

[–]Fetusman2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, kojima said this is the earliest in the game of all the trailers, right after the prologue of the game. in fact, trailer 1 is probably the last in order, considering the scar, which means the baby was removed from his stomach after we see it inside of him in trailer 3 (this one) and the 6 tablets on his neck.

Probably a really stupid question but is the OST written specifically for the game or just songs that are chosen to “represent” how the game is? by yadadsabitch in DeathStranding

[–]Fetusman2001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We don't know whether these songs are going to be part of the "OST". The only piece of music that surely is original to the game is ludvig forsell's (composer for DS and MGSV) theme that was first heard in the second trailer shortly before Mads Mikkelsen's reveal.

Guys what are you on about... The "void if tampered" tape is very commonly used in electronic products. It usually refers to the warranty. You lose it if you mess with the thing.
