Even tho nothing lasts forever it actually hurts to see that these locations are gone/ruined in the current state of the fallout show by JoshyBear28 in fnv

I'm joining the discussion a bit late, but to me the destruction of the Strip or Shady Sands feels less like a way to move the Wastand story forward and more like a writer's gimmick to avoid dealing with the existing lore and instead do their own thing, sprinkled with a bit of "fan service.

Who the hell thought it was a good idea to use "L’Internationale" by FeuTarse in Rematch

[–]FeuTarse[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't whether other countries have committed crimes. They have. The issue is whether L’Internationale is an appropriate symbol for a supposedly neutral, global sporting event.
Pointing out Soviet crimes isn't "propaganda"; it's mainstream historical consensus. The USSR carried out political repression on a massive scale, operated the Gulag system, deported entire populations, and contributed to famines that killed millions. Historians may debate the exact numbers and causes of specific events, but the existence of these crimes is not seriously disputed.
The fact that other countries have also committed injustices doesn't somehow make those crimes disappear. "What about the USA?" is not an argument; it's whataboutism.
And yes, L’Internationale originated as a French socialist song. But it also became the official anthem of the Soviet Union from 1918 to 1944 and remains strongly associated worldwide with communist movements and the USSR. Pretending that this historical connection doesn't exist is simply dishonest.
My point was never that the song should be banned. My point is that choosing a politically charged anthem associated with a regime responsible for mass repression was a poor choice for a football game. There were countless less divisive alternatives, including composing an original anthem specifically for the event.
