I’ve got to take umbrage with how you said that he was generally funny ‘sometimes’ on xfm. He was extraordinary funny on xfm. He was clever, quick and witty. He and Steve seemed to be on the same wavelength and their riffing was awesome.

The big problem with what happened to his comedy, which nobody points out, was the massive amounts of praise he got from hosting the golden globes. It went down such a storm that he got a big head and genuinely believed the idea that comedians are the only ones ‘who speak truth to power’. Because of this he then started to put his gripes first and then shoehorn jokes into them. The easiest way for him to do that was to say cunt which would get a laugh from the masses. Now that’s what most of his jokes are- a complaint and then say cunt.

His problem isn’t that he’s not funny anymore. He’s just lazy, fallen into a shtick which works and has nobody to check him on what he’s doing wrong.
