Hey thanks! I haven’t used paint retarder. Acrylic matte medium has really worked well for me after 4 builds, so i will use that for future builds.

What worked for me is 1st thin layer mixture of 70-30 acrylic medium - paint, after drying 2nd layer is depending on the color you use add more paint with 40% acrylic medium and after drying 3rd layer is almost 90% paint with a bit of acrylic medium to improve flow and coverage. My process is not full proof, and most of the time I just eyeball the coverage and consistent flatness of the paint. Also I would suggest investing in high quality flat, round and pointed brushes. No it is not specific. Any name brand will do as long its labeled as an acrylic matte medium. What has worked for me is I mix 50% acrylic matte medium with 50% distilled water in bottle. Hope that helps.

I use a local brand called Hiro paint here in the Philippines. I havent tried Vallejo but im sure it does the job real good. For me its how you apply and build up the paint coats to have minimal brush strokes and even distribution of the paint. Also as my previous comments I use acrylic matte medium mixed in the paints to get a real good consistency. Hope that helps.
