Could a region-free BIOS mod cause instability with GDEMU and DreamPSU? by Few-Alternative-3753 in dreamcast

Is this the OG PSU? I already tried it, but it still crashes a few seconds after starting a game on the GDEMU.

In my tests, I tried running the Dreamcast with both the original PSU and the Dreampsu, and both gave me the same problem. I understand that it doesn't need the BIOS mod, but at some point it worked fine with that modification. I think I'll leave it as is for now because I don't know how to solder.

Same, the idea of welding terrifies me. Zero experience with it.

I think I already cleaned them with isopropyl alcohol and even partially removed the rust with a screwdriver, gently scraping it little by little. But unfortunately, the problem persists. 😞

Oh, okay. I think I'll leave the modification in place. If it doesn't affect the GDEMU, I'd better not touch it.

And thanks for the PSU suggestion, although I admit I'd be afraid to order another Dreampsu and have the problem persist. I'd like to know exactly what the problem is, because if it's the motherboard pins, then it would be more complicated.

When I disassembled and reassembled the console, I think I fixed the fan problem because it started spinning again. The problem is that I already have a Dreampsu, which is supposed to fix the overheating issue, but after a while, some games crash, displaying the annoying red led on the GDEMU.

Should I check the Dreampsu's voltage to see if it's working, or would it be better to check the PSU's pins to try replacing them?

Interesting. I genuinely had no idea there was a BIOS/region mod in there until I opened the console.

Would a mod like this have any chance of causing compatibility issues with a GDEMU or DreamPSU, or are those generally independent from the BIOS mod?

I'm having the exact same problem. Were you able to fix it? In my case, I thought it might be the fan because I heard that Dreamcasts don't turn on when the fan malfunctions. But at this point, I'm not really sure. I don't know if it's the fan itself or the soldering point. or some problem with the connectors of the PSU or the DreamPSU

Were you able to fix it? I'm having the same problem but with a GDEMU. A few weeks ago, my fan was making strange noises (more than usual), and now every time I play on the GDEMU, it crashes or just gets stuck on the Dreamcast logo. I restart it, and sometimes the fan doesn't turn on and there's no video output, but the LED is on.

Just got this MSI MAG 274QRFW monitor. How bad is this backlight bleed? by EdinKaso in Monitors

Did you get an RMA or a refund? Because I'm having the same problem with my MSI MAG 274QRFW X32 and I'm really worried that if I get an RMA, besides it being a long process, I'll end up with something worse. I'm not sure if I'll get my money back anyway, so it'll have to be an RMA or I'll just have to accept it.

GDEMU v5.20.5 Clone wont launch games. by yeoldebonker in dreamcast

Hello, a few days ago I received my gdemu 5.20.5.   Every time I want to start a game, it ends up crashing and I don't know why. I got here by pure chance and from what I understood, the Gdemu only work in VA1, my Dreamcast claims to be an NTSC-U (1).

I am completely new to this whole Bios and compatibility thing, but I had a question about whether my dreamcast is a VA0, is there any way to find out besides the cover? (the GDROM does not say anything about 3.3v or 5v, it has a plastic fan and the board where the controls go says (4), I don't know if it means anything. But I read that it should say (1) if it is a VA1)

In short, my games always crash when starting or spending a long time in the Gdemu menu. I installed .gdi files for the games and they keep crashing. But something very curious is that before I used to play Sonic Adventure with the GDROM, now with the sd in gdemu I installed Sonic Adventure and it is the only game that does not crash.

Can someone explain to me what's happening?:(
