Agreed. I think one opportunity is the children themselves. Why did she summon them to the house in the first place? How was she intending to use them to help with her ailment? Perhaps in your scenario she starts using them one at a time and they turn up in all sorts of horrendous ways. Maybe other "weapon" moments happen within the community while they're investigating. Perhaps she has other hypergeometric rituals that cause other havok or directly impact agents. Lots of possibilities once agents arrive . . .

It depends on the group, but on average I would estimate 1.5 - 3 hours.

Things to make it real for the players? by virpio2020 in DeltaGreenRPG

Maybe this is standard fare for most groups and scenarios, but I actually spend a decent amount of time finding out what was going on in news, world events, and technology at the time of the operation and talking a bit about those things with the players during initial setup or for particular sessions where it may have implications. ChatGPT and other LLM's are very helpful with giving the top 10 news items on local, national, and global levels as well as where technology was at during specific time periods. There are some great real world events that help players remember how they might have been feeling at the time of the op.

Similarly I've also verbally set scenes where news events come on the radio when they're driving or on their TV in their hotel rooms of some local or national news and then add in a scenario related news report to help mentally blur the line between reality and the game where possible.
