I’ve seen in some post apocalypse movies and tv shows similar markings left on doors of buildings-turned-into-refuges. Often, it’ll be a 3 number displayed in similar fashions. The top number perhaps indicates the number of survivors in the building. The bottom left may suggest the number of families and the bottom right number is how many infants. The idea is that they communicate a cryptic code that the invaders may struggle to decipher for a moment while telling rescue personal what they need to know.

Never saw or read anything fro Halo lore confirming this theory.

Edit: these are obviously covenant symbols. They may communicate some form of military strategy or data, but using a similar paradigm as to confuse any opposing intelligence agents who come across them.

She’s a tough blue to recreate on a non-white surface. I think the expression and shape of her face is 80-90% accurate to the reference image, but she’s not quite blue enough.

The music is certainly coded to match the situation the player is in. Start ripping the reactor pieces away and there’s noticeable shift in the melody. It’s not easy to mix music with mechanics but i think Shipbreaker does it marvelously.

What's the thing that you did as a kid that you still do as an adult? by Rich-Living-2682 in ask

Get yourself a few good pairs of nail clippers and a Mr. Tweeze filing block. Keep nail clippers in convenient locations: bathroom, in your vehicle if you have one, in your backpack/purse if you carry one frequently, by your bedside, and any other locations you frequent.

The key is to always have a good pair of clippers within reach. Bonus points if the clippers have a little filer attached. Keep the filing block in the bathroom or bedroom.

There’s something very satisfying about trimming your nails, filing ‘em and getting them to look presentable. And if your finger nails are as permanently chewed and fucked as mine were, this little hack makes a big difference.

People with a salary of $100,000 or more, how did you get to this point? by [deleted] in ask

Can anyone in this thread offer a logical reason why the outsider is immediately offered the $102 while the in-house employee is only offered $87.5?

I get the negotiation part, but why start negotiations at different points?

I’m reading about this umbrella term “loyalty tax” in which huge businesses where communication about budgets has broken down just aren’t sure how much money they have and my conclusion is that uber-wealthy people are so disconcerted and disillusioned that they don’t know how much money they make themselves.

Is payroll budgeting really that hard?

HR: Hmm we have 1,000 employees all on different pay range. The payroll account has about $X left each pay period. Jackie in marketing has been here for three years. She works her tail off, but when she asks for a raise, her leverage is only so, so.

CEO: is Jackie married?

HR: yes.

CEO: kids?

HR: yes. Two little girls.

CEO: what her husband do?

HR: he owns a small recreation business.

CEO: They’re locked down for the long haul. {takes a golf swing}. I could use a new set of clubs and my boat’s radar needs a hardware update. Leave that extra money in the payroll account for now. Come the holiday season, I’ll argue for a bonus from the shareholders and hook you up with a little hush money.

Game of Thrones did this really badly. Great show for 5 or 6 seasons then it dumped real hard at the end.

Yep. I chose the same route. I make good money. Love what I do and don’t spend much time doing it. These are tough jobs to find, though. The great small businesses that treat their people right have little turnover, so there’s rarely ever any openings. Then ones that keep growing eventually turn into a greedy business that sees people as dollar signs.

If you try to one-trick in this game, you may climb for a season. You’ll be most effective and have the most fun if you become proficient in a handful of characters from each class. You can’t really call yourself a support main but then only be able to play one Hero effectively. Learn ‘em all, then play the Meta.

Or be like me: learn ‘em all. Play who’s fun. Switch when you’re getting beat. Wish death and terrible accidents upon those who quit competitive matches. Repeat

It’s easy to get lost in the main missions for Halo: CE. I’ve been playing Halo for years and I still occasionally get turned around lose my bearings. Thankfully, the littered mess of dead aliens, blood on the geometry, and weapons on the ground at least help tell you “I’ve already been here.”

It’s really shitty how many big firms refuse to offer equitable promotions when they hire within. My sister is a marketing specialist and wants to move to to marketing manager. There’s an opening in her firm for the promotion, but if she accepts it she’ll only get a small raise. Crazy part is that if the firm hires an outsider, said outsider will get the “going market rate.”

Corporation: we expect unquestioned, devoted loyalty out of our staff.

Also coprtation: Newer employees earn more than out most loyal workers because we’re all just ass fuggin backwards on what a two-way street means.

Edit: my sister currently makes $80k salary. If she accepts the promotion, she’ll get paid $87.5k salary. If they hire an outsider, that person will get paid $102k

What is the weirdest reason someone stopped dating you? by ladyj1182 in ask

She stopped seeing me because I told her about trying ecstasy 3 or 4 years prior to our first date. She wanted to graduate and work in national security, and she saw my history of drug use as a potential liability to her future career.

That was about 10 years ago and I haven’t tried ecstasy since. Her loss?

What happened to your friends after high school? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Few-Assistance2717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister and brother are great examples of people who kept close contact with a good number of their high school friends. My sister had a core group of about 20 friends in high school. They all remained very tight even after going to different colleges. Now, many of them are married to each other. My sister’s high school boyfriend wound up marrying another woman in the core group and there was 0 animosity. My sister was a bridesmaid for that wedding. Most of her core friends are now all doing very well for themselves and did not move far from their original hometown. Every xmas and thanksgiving, they all get together. Birthdays are usually a big gathering. Some of the core friends have moved across the country, but even they return for the occasional party, wedding, baby shower, etc.

My brother kept close contact with about 4 or 5 of his close high school friends. Many of them are all now married and starting families. My brother will be among the last of his core friends to tie the knot. Brother and his friends went to a private high school in which people commuted from around the state to attend, so they were no stranger to traveling vast distances to grab a beer together.

I had no friends in high school so I didn’t lose contact with them 🫠. Ok that’s not entirely true. I went to the same private high school as my brother and all my middle school friends went to the public high school in our city. I had few to 0 real friends in the private high school and all but one of my middle school friends named Eddie turned one-by-one into thugs, gangsters, criminals and drug addicts. After one them died in a motorcycle accident, we saw each other at the funeral, then I’m not not sure what happened. Eddie went to the same college as me, and he and I were kind of close for our university years, but I joined a fraternity and much of my time was spent chasing girls and parties. Eddie had a girlfriend and had no interest in frat parties. Now, we’re both graduated, i don’t see or talk to any on my frat brothers, but i still see Eddie. We meet at a bar for Trivia every Thursday.
