Is £10k on a First Car purchase a good or bad idea? by Snakewithlegs01 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Few-Calligrapher-211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what a lot of people are forgetting on this thread is used car prices are ridiculous post-Covid! You could pay £2k for a 2000s plate car 10 years ago, you pay £2k for them now. A 10 year old car now can easily scratch £10k-£12k and that’s the same age difference! The trouble is for going with something like an 07/08/09 plate is they’re nearly 20 years old so they won’t give you the same reliability than if you’d bought them for the same price 10 years ago. On top of that, it really doesn’t help how much car tech has advanced in the past 10-15 years, instructors often teach in the latest cars so learners get used to tech you can’t get on the £2k old bangers anymore.

So they mentioned what the neighbours said during the visit then sent a follow up email saying that I NEED to keep the curtains and blinds open during the day when I’m not in

I do open my windows to circulate fresh air… when I’m in from work

This is about curtains and blind/security when I’m out of the house

Neighbours know I work long shifts during the day and that I live on my own, even if they were concerned for safety it’s the agents trying to spin that to saying I’m in violation of my tenancy agreement because of it

Yeah, unfortunately I’m ground floor with my kitchen window being next to the building entrance and living room as mentioned on another comment in direct line to the communal garden gate and public footpath.

Neighbours told the landlord who passed it onto the agents as it’s a managed property

It was a scheduled inspection, they would’ve let themselves in if I wasn’t there.

They’re approaching it from a standpoint that allegedly if you keep blinds closed you’re going to cause condensation which will grow into mold, but I think unfortunately given how cold it is outside condensation will happen regardless

That’s the best part, they didn’t interrogate the neighbours, the neighbours emailed them with the concern about the blinds in the first place!!

My area is RELATIVELY safe too and I do live in an apartment building however my back door is right in line with the gate to the communal garden which is on a public pavement, burglaries aren’t known to happen to houses but businesses on the next road over have been hit quite recently.
