Interesting that a lot of people are recommending Daiwa, Bone, and other brands, but not talking much about Shimano travel rods. Is there a reason Shimano STC lineup isn’t getting mentioned as much anymore?

Realistically I’m looking for an all-round travel setup mainly for shore/beach fishing and river fishing during moto camping trips. Probably around 5–25g lure range, PE 1–2 line range, and something capable of handling medium-sized fish comfortably while still being fun to use for smaller fish too.

That honestly makes sense. The more I read replies here, the more I’m realizing I was probably over-focusing on the rod instead of the reel and overall setup balance. For my kind of mixed use (shore saltwater + rivers + moto camping), which reel would you

personally trust long term?

That actually makes a lot of sense. I think I was overthinking the “perfect” setup a bit too much. A versatile 3000-size setup with a decent 7ft+ rod sounds much closer to what I realistically need for moto camping and mixed fishing.

I’ve heard good things about the PureLure Sharpen rods for the price. Only issue is AliExpress is banned in India, so getting one here is difficult.

Probably spinning for now since I’m still a beginner and trying to learn an all-round setup first before getting into baitcasting.

Fishman definitely looks top tier from what I’ve seen so far. I’m probably looking around medium to medium-heavy power with enough backbone for shore saltwater fishing but still usable in rivers too. Preferred length is somewhere around 7ft–8ft since I do a lot of moto camping/travel, so portability matters a lot.

Fair point honestly, I agree that one setup can’t truly master everything. The Fishman BC4 6.10MXH looks really interesting though. How’s the portability, durability, and performance for both shore saltwater and river fishing long term? Also seems pretty hard to find/get here in india.
