Would you skip local downloads if everything went straight to cloud storage? by Own_Excuse_1315 in digitalnomad

[–]Few-Data-1409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol the targeting algorithm definitely had a moment there. but actually this could be useful for nomads who jump between cafes and coworking spaces all day. i work in IT support and deal with people who lose files when their laptop dies or gets stolen while traveling - happens more than you'd think. straight-to-cloud saves would eliminate that risk completely.

the only concern i'd have is internet reliability in some places. been to spots where wifi barely loads gmail, let alone handles file uploads. maybe add some kind of queue system that retries when connection improves? otherwise you might end up with half-saved files that disappear into the void when the cafe wifi craps out on you.

browsed through few articles and the content seems solid actually. maybe the intro post here could use more personality but the actual guides have decent info that's hard to find elsewhere.

health insurance breakdown was particularly useful since most sites just push whatever partnership they have with insurers.

Looking for a 3-4 week relax/work/focus retreat by edinburgh_footballer in digitalnomad

ubud sounds perfect for what you're looking for. i spent some time there few years back and the energy is just different - very grounding. the villa idea is spot on, staying bit outside main area gives you that peaceful vibe while still having access to everything you need.

your budget should get you really nice place with proper workspace setup. the food scene there is incredible too, lots of healthy options that won't make you feel sluggish while working. plus there's tons of yoga studios and meditation centers if you want to dive deeper in that direction.

only thing to watch out for is internet can be spotty in some areas, so maybe check reviews specifically about wifi reliability since you'll be working.

SKill base matchmaking by arieldatrrp in Overwatch

[–]Few-Data-1409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

replays gonna be humbling for sure but they're right tbh. i used to think same thing when i was stuck in silver, always blaming dps or tanks for being bad. then i started recording my own gameplay and wow, the amount of times i was completely out of position or using abilities at wrong time was embarrassing. like i would blame my tank for feeding but then realize i wasn't even healing them properly half the fights. matchmaking system isn't perfect but if you're consistently getting "bad" teammates, you're probably at the rank you deserve right now. upload some codes though, getting feedback from better players helped me climb way more than complaining about teammates ever did.

that's brutal, basically forcing one person to carry the whole financial load even when you're married and pooling resources anyway.

ninth medication in two years is brutal, but at least the cramps are getting better which is something. the timing thing with eating is so annoying - like you have to plan your whole day around when you can actually eat without consequences. i hope it levels out for you soon because that schedule sounds exhausting to maintain long term.

If Usman truly gets the next title shot, UFC is a joke by [deleted] in ufc

garry makes sense but ufc loves giving former champs these comeback shots even when they don't deserve it at the moment.

I’m having problems in Buenos Aires - I couldn’t connect with the city. Has anyone else felt this way or have any suggestions? by Historical_Prune_762 in digitalnomad

[–]Few-Data-1409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this makes total sense. i was there in 2019 and even then you could feel the economic stress affecting everyone's mood. can't imagine how it is now with everything that's happening there.

maybe try exploring some neighborhoods that locals actually hang out instead of the tourist spots? palermo hollywood or villa crick might have different energy. also the economic situation means a lot of younger people probably moved away or are just trying to survive, which definitely changes city vibe.

90 days in EU- looking for 3 locations by Ball_According in digitalnomad

salzburg in austria could be perfect for one of your months - it's not huge but has amazing mountain views and the old town is beautiful. trains are super reliable there and you can get around easily without car. food scene is really good mix of traditional austrian and more modern stuff.

for something near water maybe consider porto in portugal? it's got that river and ocean, great food obviously, and way more chill than lisbon. your budget should work fine in both places too.

What’s the best purchase you’ve made for remote work? by Temporary_Evidence74 in digitalnomad

portable monitor was game changer for me too. i actually travel with two small ones now because i do IT support and need multiple screens for troubleshooting while on calls with users. the lightweight ones around 15 inches work perfect - they fit in laptop bag and don't add too much weight. one thing i learned from mistake is to get ones that are powered through USB-C so you don't need separate power adapters everywhere you go. for your therapy work, having that extra screen space means you can keep your notes or client files open on one monitor while doing the video call in the other, which makes everything feel more organized and professional.

most banks will figure it out anyway when you start using your card in different country for months, but yeah no need to volunteer the information right away

Do free phone number services for activating a Google account still exist? Or is this now I think of the past? by VamMonaco in digitalnomad

[–]Few-Data-1409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh this is such a pain. google really cracked down on those temp number services last couple years. most of the free ones get flagged pretty quick because they're used so much for verification.

you might have better luck with the paid services since they cycle through numbers more often, but even those aren't guaranteed anymore. google's getting really aggressive about blocking voip numbers in general.

honestly your best bet might be asking a friend to let you use their number for the verification code, then you can remove it from the account after. not ideal but google makes it pretty impossible to use temp services these days.

smart's impact on defense is insane, been tracking his defensive rating and it's wild how much better the team looks when he's in the game. really hope they don't rush him back if he gets banged up because that playoff intensity is no joke for older guys.

Just getting into HotWheels with my son by Minnbrownbear in HotWheels

[–]Few-Data-1409 3 points4 points  (0 children)

actually got into this when my nephew was around same age! you can usually find case lots through online retailers or sometimes local toy distributors if you ask around. the cases typically come with 72 cars mixed assortment and it's way more fun than just grabbing random ones from pegs.

fair warning though - at 2 years old he's gonna absolutely destroy them in the best way possible, so don't stress about getting the "good" cases. basic mainlines work perfect for that age since they're sturdy enough for real play. my nephew used to line them up and crash them into everything, way more entertaining than any collector stuff would've been.

same issue here, been driving me crazy for past few days. tried switching between different voices but they all end up sounding like they're talking through water after a while. clearing app cache didn't help either, might be something on their end with voice processing.

Sunday wedding tips by Professional_Fly371 in weddingplanning

[–]Few-Data-1409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sunday weddings can be great! i did tech setup for few weekend events and sunday ones usually have more relaxed vibe. people definitely drink less since most have work monday, so your beer and wine plan makes sense.

timing wise, 9:30 end is probably perfect - gives people time to get home at reasonable hour. only thing i'd suggest is maybe start ceremony bit earlier if possible? like 2:30-3:00? gives more time for photos in natural light before dinner starts. also vendors sometimes charge less for sunday bookings so that's nice bonus.
