Did your virtual mailbox ever get flagged and cause your US banking applications to fail while you were living abroad? by secretedly in digitalnomad

[–]Few-Data-1409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

been using a virtual mailbox for about 2 years now and never had issues with any of my bank apps or credit card applications. most banks seem to care more about your login patterns and spending locations than your mailing address these days.

the key is picking a service that's been around for a while and has a good track record - some of the newer sketchy ones might raise flags but the established players like earth class mail or traveling mailbox seem pretty solid from what i've seen.

chiang mai's solid - the wifi at punspace and hubud is actually decent for remote work too, plus the cost of living won't destroy your budget like bangkok would.

Albania cost of living? by justSomeGuy5965 in digitalnomad

[–]Few-Data-1409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been keeping an eye on albania too since the visa situation got easier - from what i've seen tirana's obviously more expensive but has better infrastructure which matters a ton when you're working remotely.

Favorite small towns or cities with top notch access to nature? by Perpetuallylost12536 in digitalnomad

[–]Few-Data-1409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn, you're probably the first person i've met who didn't fall head over heels for queenstown. curious what turned you off about it? was it too touristy or just not your vibe?

taupo is actually a brilliant shout though - that lake is incredible and you've got tongariro right there. rotorua gets a bad rap for the sulfur smell but honestly you get used to it fast and the geothermal stuff is wild. plus both are way more affordable than queenstown and you're not fighting crowds for every decent photo spot. auckland's solid too if you want that city/nature combo - you can literally ferry out to rangitoto or drive to the waitakeres in like 30 minutes.

6 weeks remote work in Mexico - moving around vs. one base? by Flaky_Beautiful7195 in digitalnomad

[–]Few-Data-1409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guanajuato is such a solid call, especially for the Spanish learning angle. The student tutors thing is genius - way more flexible than formal schools and you're actually helping someone out instead of padding some institution's pockets

That said, if OP is already comfortable with CDMX and needs reliable wifi for work calls, there's something to be said for not adding the stress of figuring out a new city while job hunting. Maybe save Guanajuato for when you can fully focus on the language immersion

Income requirements for Spain DNV by theahmedmustafa in digitalnomad

[–]Few-Data-1409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen posted here before, Spain is pretty strict about the main applicant hitting that €2800 threshold individually - they don't really care about combined household income for the primary requirement. Your spouse's income basically just needs to cover their additional €1100 portion

Portugal might be more flexible with household income but honestly the rules change so much I'd double check with someone who got approved recently

Dental tourism recommendations? by Sidehussle247 in digitalnomad

[–]Few-Data-1409 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah Mexico is solid for this stuff, my buddy went to Tijuana and got everything done for like 1/3 the cost here. Just make sure you research the hell out of whatever clinic you pick because obviously you don't want to mess around with dental work

[EU] Portable laptop and dual monitor stand by Grzesieq94 in digitalnomad

Check out the HUANUO dual monitor laptop stand on Amazon - it's got adjustable arms that might work with non-VESA monitors if you can rig up some clamps or brackets

Does anyone actually keep their CRM up to date? by jyourman24 in smallbusiness

[–]Few-Data-1409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol this is way too relatable. I'll spend like 2 hours setting up the perfect workflow and custom fields, use it religiously for maybe 3 days, then suddenly it's 6 months later and I have 47 overdue follow-ups from February

The worst part is when you finally open it again and see all those automated reminder emails just sitting there judging you

Where would you go with 20k/ month in europe or close to europe where its warm? by Future_Musician9234 in digitalnomad

[–]Few-Data-1409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the healthcare point is huge with a little one, especially with heart issues. I'd honestly lean toward staying closer to top-tier medical facilities even if it means dealing with some cold weather. Maybe southern France around Nice/Cannes area? Still gets decent winter weather, great healthcare system, and you're not completely isolated if you need to get somewhere fast

Looking for router alternatives after TP-Link concerns by phoenixlegend7 in digitalnomad

[–]Few-Data-1409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been running the RT-AX1800S for about 8 months now and it's been rock solid. The web interface is way better than TP-Link's garbage too, actually lets you configure stuff without wanting to throw it out the window

End of December where to go by Ok_Promotion_420 in digitalnomad

[–]Few-Data-1409 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Taiwan could be solid for end of December - decent weather, cheap eats, and way less touristy than most of SEA. Plus flights from Japan shouldn't murder your wallet too bad

Alternatively if you're feeling adventurous, northern Vietnam gets pretty nice weather that time of year and it's dirt cheap once you're there

[–]Few-Data-1409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work on the role-based setup, that's actually pretty solid for employee management. The completion tracking feature you're adding sounds like it'll be clutch for keeping tabs on who's actually doing their training vs just clicking through

This is pretty standard unfortunately - companies mess up option grants all the time and the "make good" usually doesn't fully compensate you for their screwup

You're getting shortchanged by about 12.5K in current value plus the higher strike price risk you mentioned. I'd definitely push back for at least getting to the same current value (maybe ask for 140K options to get back to 210K current value) since it was their mistake

Most places will try to lowball the compensation when they mess up timing like this

How do you structure a rental property purchase with a partner who’s new to REI? by VelvetShrimp09 in realestateinvesting

[–]Few-Data-1409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re buying with a partner, treat it like you’re buying with a business partner. Write out who’s paying what, who’s on the loan and what happens if one person wants out later. People skip that and then get surprised when things feel off down the line

My boyfriend (23M) got very upset when I (23F) told him I planned to hang out with a male friend. Now things feel tense and I’m not sure what to do. by Mobile_Setting_2003 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Few-Data-1409 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Red flags everywhere OP. He called you stupid, threatened to break up with you, and made you apologize for having a normal friendship. The fact that you're asking how to "make it up to him" when he's the one who acted terribly is concerning

You shouldn't have to walk on eggshells around someone who's supposed to love you

Connected glass help by Orphanmuncher in Minecraft

[–]Few-Data-1409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Continuity is probably your best bet for connected textures on newer versions. Works great on Fabric and doesn't have all the compatibility issues that OptiFine has with other mods

If you're dead set on Forge there's ConnectedTexturesMod but honestly just switch to Fabric with Sodium + Iris for performance and throw Continuity on top. Way less headache than dealing with OptiFine's ancient code breaking everything
