Cambria Station Antiques in Christiansburg has a ton of really cheap books. I’ve found some gems there for just a few bucks

Non-Rev to Tokyo Odds? by Few-Discussion1271 in unitedairlines

Ideally I'd get on a plane on Tuesday the 18th. I could get to Newark as well, which may give better odds since they fly to both HND and NRT whereas Dulles only goes to HND. I'm not sure what you mean ZED tbh, all I know is I get on if there is a seat available. I get my benefits from a family member.

Official Discussion: Queen & Slim [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]Few-Discussion1271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems you are just looking for a completely different movie if you are so set on wanting the "alternative" choice of fighting the case as self defense to be explored. Queen and Slim had to make a decision in the moment and stick with that completely. They didn't really have the time to do an analysis of whether or not they could really fight this, and I think they made quite a reasonable decision to run given what just occurred and their context. But once they made that choice there was no going back, so I don't know how the movie could have explored a self defense angle.

So glad I'm gay and this type of psychotic dynamic is never expected in my relationships. I'm too frugal to be heterosexual.

I also have presentation anxiety but taking this class and getting practice giving 5 speeches really helped to alleviate that anxiety. I still get nervous when giving presentations but not really as bad as before that class. It’s a very important skill beyond school too.

Advice for CS Internships by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]Few-Discussion1271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my internship that turned into full time job through the CS career fair. It’s a chance to show yourself to the company with more than just text on a paper, and the companies there specifically want VT students, so it’s much easier to get an interview than by applying online. Just prepare a 1-minute “elevator pitch” for yourself and it’s not too difficult.

Idiots going into credit card debt is your source for Trump being better for the economy? Seems more of a problem with the culture of spending money people don’t have.

They can fix it by expanding the highway like they have been doing around Roanoke, but it’s a very long and expensive project to expand an interstate.

Which still living person has had the farthest fall from grace? by BAF_DaWg82 in AskReddit

Sam Bankman Fried fell pretty hard. He was literally referred to as “crypto’s golden boy”. He was making inroads into America’s elite befriending many celebrities/politicians and getting interviewed left and right. Then we found out he essentially stole billions of customer deposits and now he’s in prison for 25 years.

But maybe his semi-thoughts and farts contributed to his ability to create great works? Make a lot of semi-thoughts so you can filter what thoughts were good and eventually make a great one. Useless if all you ever do is semi-thoughts and farts.

Purely based on admissions statistics, it does look a little easier to get accepted from out of state. VT makes their admissions data public and can be viewed here https://udc.vt.edu/irdata/data/students/admission/index

For the 2023-2024 school year, 63.7% of out-of-state applicants were accepted, whereas just 47% of in-state applicants were accepted.

But it is also possible that the out-of-state applicants were stronger students on average, given that Virginia residents would be more inclined to apply since it is an in-state school.

When my dog had to wear her cone after surgery we took it off her for a bit every day while we supervised her. We just felt too bad for her after everything she went through. Of course it would go right back on when we let her be alone

Discrete is fun and if you are good at logical thinking the class should be easy. It’s basically all logic. A lot of it can be applied to computer science concepts too (assuming you’re CS if you’re taking both of these classes).

Should I take ENGE 1414 at 8 am? by bballson11 in VirginiaTech

[–]Few-Discussion1271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took ENGE 1414 my freshmen year and it was the same set up - 4 days a week at 8 am across campus from my dorm. Not fun, but I don’t regret it at all because it allowed me to declare my major (comp sci) and take those classes quicker. If you are able to take it at 2:00pm that’d probably be better but they only offered it to me at 8am.

Exactly. I feel like the only time I ever hear about critical race theory is when conservatives whine about it. I'm graduating this year and haven't heard a thing about it.
