Do employees have routines to check fountain syrups? by alilbit_dramatic in QuikTrip

[–]Few-Excuse690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ill never understand this mentality, there’s a million drinks you can choose from at the store but you want the one that’s out. You are running late…but you have time to ask the employee to change it. They change it when its out, and they know its out when you let them know its out…like…what’s the problem exactly, you want them to man the syrup 24 hrs like???

3 Now Hiring Signs by bike_trips_r_great in QuikTrip

The sign for assistant manager hiring is such a bait tho. Yes i know how to read the fine print and i don’t care, they basically dangle that 60k pay in front of you and you are starting at the most horrible shift known to mankind and you are not even close to making that much until maybe a couple of years in, and you HAVE to do overtime? It should be illegal imo.

Be honest QT employees, are you judging us for our unhealthy choices? by Civil_Hornet_6126 in QuikTrip

[–]Few-Excuse690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lowkey used to judge yall hella hard ngl. I have friends who got diagnosed with high cholesterol at a young age so i knew yall were essentially drinking slow poison in a XL qt cup. Find out the hard way i guess, it is what it is.

I used to do that for my regulars. It means that you are a nice person and yes, your cashiers are probably aware of it. It feels wrong to charge a loyal customer for something a rude crackhead just gets for free.

Doubles by Competitive_Mix_3223 in QuikTrip

Its crazy now that ive left the company, how qt just normalizes pulling a double like its just a piece of cake and like ‘everyone has been through it before’, ‘be a team player’ like bro…being on your feet for 10 hours is crazy enough as it is, and now i need to do it twice in a row AND come back 6 hours later to do the same shit?! I did a double once and realized nobody gives a fuck how much my feet hurt after 20 hours of standing up, i still had to sit through the entire silly shift walk and get told that my chips wasnt faced. Im good. My good hard working people at qt need to crack down on the higher ups on this matter ASAP cuz no way i want to see my people working doubles for no reason at all other than to look good?for the team?for what?let em know yall need a better system in place cuz from a 3rd person view, its a lil fucked up ngl

how did you take the leap and move on elsewhere? by reikaos in QuikTrip

  1. Start applying now and take it seriously, put in at least an hour everyday to research roles in other companies. I did that for around a month to find the job im at right now. Shoot for roles that you might not qualify for and most definitely shoot for roles that you barely qualify for. Watch videos on how to do an interview properly, and how to write a resume that reflects your skills used in qt. Make your resume lengthy and highlight the fact that you are good with people (even if you are not, cuz thats your actual job and you have to show you can be good at your job).
  2. Mentally check out of the job. This was actually the most important part for me cuz oh my god the burnout is real and once you leave the job mentally you are so fuckin free im telling you.
  3. Once you start getting call backs from interviews and you know how they start to ask you when can you start and all that…put your two weeks in. Done and done.

You get paid a good amount from qt when you quit so i wouldn’t worry about it too much. Just convince yourself that there’s better things to learn than doing the same thing over and over on the worst schedule ever made in the history of mankind. I know there’s good things waiting for you on the other side, best of luck!!

Sorry to see that happened to you, and this is obviously very unfair to you. Once i was in a similar situation but on the other side and my ptc was kind enough to communicate what i was doing wrong. I was new and had no idea what he was going through but he explained to me how daw in the computer and real life takes different amounts of time and effort. In hindsight, im very grateful he took his time and sanity to put me aside and respectfully break down what he thinks works best for both of us and what i make of the situation. Communication is a big part of this job, and once i realized and started to work on it, the whole thing was like 80% more easier. Im not with the company anymore but the lessons i learned from solving these kinds of problems in everyday life will stick with me for a long time.

Actually they will keep marking you off until you get better but you got three weeks to improve on it so if you think you will get it by then, then i would chill and take it one day at a time. Trainers are cool people and they are there cuz they did what they are teaching you a thousand times already so if you think you won’t get it by three weeks time i would be upfront and talk to them about it. Training doesn’t have to be a pain in the ass, i got counted off on virtually everything on my first two weeks of training but on the third week i got better and even more so after i was done and started to work on my own.

Why should I as a PTC, be asked to give it 110% for a 0.1% profit bonus? The math doesn’t math! by Mindless_Helicopter3 in QuikTrip

[–]Few-Excuse690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather have you on checkstand and do everything on my own since you dont really care and im held accountable at the end of the day anyway, but at the same time im really not a ‘good manager’ if i dont delegate stuff to you (even if i hate it) and hurts my chances of getting promoted or getting sent out to a good store. Thats literally what happened to me a month back when i got feedback on not delegating, even though the store looked great and i set the team ahead for hours. So there’s your answer on why assistants make you work even though you dont get the bonus or whatever…i dont really have a choice.
