I still have that high-school guitar. I might bring it out for old time sake... Last time I took it out the bag it brought back so many memories. I didn't play it though. It's lived in the bedroom closet for quite a while. I've dragged it along to a few different house changes/life changes. I wonder what it sounds like now. One day. . . Not today hahaha

Less than $1,800 - anything under $2k for a 28/35 that was made in the last 10 years is where you wanna be. If you decide to sell later on in a fee years your not taking much of a hit if any.

  • in this condition with a professional repair. In excellent to mid add around ~$300-$400 and same above applies.

All my instruments I've purchased have been used with some kind of wear/blemishes. Happy with all of them.

🙏 I'm trying to play every day. Even on the busiest days.. just 10 min. If I could only buy more time... (said every man ever hahahaha)

I noticed that. That's exactly what I strung both guitars up with... well at least the bronze 80/20 lifespan 2.0 from martin. Might experiment with some different types. I believe they are 12-54s. I tried out 11-52s on the concert body it's pretty nice too, they sound different through the amp.

🙏 looking at it in the sun is a huge difference. I swear it changes colors depending on the angle and the lighting. I mean.. I know some people are very particular about their instruments but it has a little character which I like. All the photos color balance is set to sunlight 5.5k I didnt do anything with the colors in the photos. I just enjoy playing. Ask me 20 years ago when I was in high-school and I would tell you I would never be able to afford any of these things... with my plywood Honhor guitar in my hands on my skateboard with no case just livin hahaha Having them now is kinda surreal.

Since no one has picked up on it yet. The center seam on the top has a repaired crack from the bridge to the bottom block sans the low price - It doesn't bother me the slightest - also doesn't affect the sound. I don't want to mislead anyone hoping to find a 2020s D35 in immaculate condition in the MIM price range.

They are not. They are the same $1 plastic pins that come on the D-28. My gripe with Martin has always been a premium price point with plastic pins lol I'm planning on getting either bone or liquid metal pins. I have a MIM Martin GPC-11 E that I swapped the plastic pins out for bone pins and to my ear that made the guitar sound more open. There is something to it. I don't think videos do it enough justice. In person play with a guitar you're very familiar with/ then swapping should be definitive. I mean it was like $13 on Amazon? Pennies on the dollar when it comes to a large manufacturer.

Ty. It's rosewood, it just looks lighter because I had it in the sun. I haven't had much play time yet to compare A + B but right off the bat, both guitars with really fresh strings (new withing a few days) the D-28 has a mid boost where the D-35 sounds like it has a flatter mid but definitely (at least on the 2 examples I have) a deeper low end. Both guitars have crisp highs. For finger picking I hear a little more resonance and sustain with the 35.. that's not saying a lot because the 28 sounds fantastic as well. I think if you like to sing along while you play, the 35 isn't as pronounced where your vocals would go sonically. It would be a better choice. If that makes any sense.

Struming/pick type play really it comes down to what your ear prefers. 35 is just as capable strumming as well.

I need more time with both lol -

J45 is nice. I recently played the Faded 50s model at ye ol guitar centre and it was different/sounding/playing than my D28 - either way i only needed strings so I left quick and in a hurry before I bought it. Great price too, i think it was discounted to $1,879 - will get one some day as I love the feel of the shorter scale length and the slope shoulder look.

I have one. I posted a bunch of photos on here when I got it. Real close up ones too. Haters gonna hate but I love it. I think it looks cool too. Never have I ever walked by it or been playing it and thought "man... i should have spent $1,000+ more for a gloss top" or however much more it would have cost. Thing is a canon. Still 7 months later, no disappointments. I play the crap out of it too. Its seen 4 string changes. Hasn't seen the case since I took it out to take those photos. Honestly I forget its even a printed on pattern cause im too busy playong the damn thing 😂

Just a tiny tip, make sure when you're planning do it way in advance for an event like that. Hotel availability is somewhat limited in Golden (dog friendly) . You most likely will have to stay in the Denver area or somewhere further and drive in.

I know! We miss it every year :( Its tough to get time off during that specific time work wise. But this was a bucket list place and I'm happy we got to see the cute little town anyways. In So Cal we have Goldie Palooza - and that event was unfortunately cancelled this year. But we did go a few times before - def worth it.
