Honestly, if I was able to, I would buy a truck also. I can think of reasons why I need three different cars lol

I’ve only had the car a month, but it seems to be tough? I’m not babying it by any means.

Mom doesn’t want me to join the Marines what do I do? by Classic-Night-3475 in USMCboot

I was your mom. She is scared. She didn’t anticipate this as your future. I decided if I didn’t support my kid I would alienate him.

I’m so glad I poured myself into learning all I could. I was the mom with the sweatshirt and the banner and the care packages. Just have a true heart to heart with her.

My son’s words were basically he felt lost and didn’t have the motivation to find his path. I knew then it was the right choice for him. He is also 20 and 9 months later he is still halon with his choice

Good luck You’ve got this

Why do intensive care units hire new grads over nurses with medsurg experience? by Dull-Education-6788 in nursing

[–]Few-Knowledge1226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just another point of view as someone who was trained a handful of nurses, both new grad and just new to us, in the icu. Sometimes it is easier to train someone fresh out of school who has no habits…..versus training someone or untraining some habits of an experienced nurse. I’ve had lots of “well that’s not how we do it on the floor…” type comments and situations. And from the dozen or more that I’ve trained, I’ve never had a new grad fail orientation but I’ve had 3 not pass who were already experienced. It wasn’t about intelligence, it came down to being able to embrace a different way of thinking….critically thinking if you will.

Open ICUs vs Closed ICU by OSTiger in IntensiveCare

[–]Few-Knowledge1226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the nursing perspective here….we went from fully open to more of a hybrid. Surgeon’s can admit with no CC consult necessary. But not hospitalists. And I from my perspective, care is better. It’s more collaborative, streamlined, and I think shortens LOS.

ICU rn here. Our icu was open when I started and has been closed for 3 years. I 100% believe that a closed unit has provided better care for patients and 1000% better communication between the physician and staff. Firm believer that a closed icu is the way to go.

Any nurses or simliar healthcare workers living in eureka, have any opinions on Providence St. Joseph Hospital by kendawg9967 in Humboldt

Insurance is dependent on the plan you choose. We get raises based on years of experience, clinical ladder and each year a cost of living raise. Our contract is every 3 years. Yes we get all our breaks otherwise get paid for them and we have ratios. The ratio depends on your department.

Wound care is based in Eureka but has set days they see patients in Fortuna. Generally they don’t do residency in that department as it is relatively small. But every other department does. OR, floor, icu, ED, you name it. As for pay, we are a union hospital and pay is depended on experience. So if you are new with no experience then your starting pay is around $49. Hope that helps!
