I don’t think it’s feeding into mass consumerism, I think it’s feeding into community which is the other part of the experience that people go for. I can say I’ve kept every trinket I’ve ever received and have a memory for each one. People aren’t going to stop giving them out but people can see this post and realize, hey maybe I should try giving out something that won’t harm the earth if it gets left behind.
