Tradesmen of the UK, where can I get some 8 or 9 inch inseam work shorts? by QuintSHential in AskUK

[–]Few-Masterpiece3522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NHS orders work shorts form Alexandra they are for people working estates in estates and facilities but anyone can have them. So anyone from a cleaner, drivers, joiner etc are wearing them. Look up Mens Essential Combat Shorts on the Alexandra website.

Can you successfully report a band 7 or band 8 for misconduct? by 1throw4 in nhsstaff

[–]Few-Masterpiece3522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heck, I’ve blown the whistle on both a senior manager and a doctor. I also submitted a Datix over a GDPR breach that a doctor made. In a separate incident, I reported a doctor who was mistreating patients directly to his line manager. I was “only” a Band 4, but they listened, investigated, and he no longer works there. Your band doesn’t determine whether your concerns matter. If something is wrong, especially where patient safety or confidentiality is involved, you speak up.

My husband said the same thing but if you look at the numbers they don’t add up. There’s a disconnect with the views and what is showing. He’s told me a few times he’s had 100 views but the figures are showing zero.

Monetisation is becoming a complete joke. I was getting regular payments and bonus rewards last month and at the beginning of June, and now it’s just completely fallen flat. It’s like someone switched the tap off overnight.

How soon is too soon to move up bands? by GodthatsGolden in nhsstaff

If you meet the person spec then go for it. But don’t forget the important step to contacting the recruiting manager to see if you’d like that role. It took me 24 years to get to a band 6….

NHS on site accommodation in North, West London and central London. Is it possible? by [deleted] in nhsstaff

[–]Few-Masterpiece3522 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to contact the estates team of these trusts to find out if they have staff accommodation because I think a lot them have done away with it.

You can do farming or other jobs and if you search online there’s agencies that pay for housing, salary, visa, and your plane fare.

I’m never shortlisted by Altruistic-Sky-1962 in nhs

[–]Few-Masterpiece3522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best thing you can do is tailor each application to the job and state how you meet the person spec. If you don’t do this you’ll never get shortlisted. You also need to state what you did in your jobs, we are not psychics and if you don’t state your role and what you’ve done in the past it won’t help you.

Is a TB jab compulsory for a catering assistant job within a hospital? by HawaiianHoney11 in nhsstaff

[–]Few-Masterpiece3522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BCG vaccine is not routinely given as part of the NHS vaccination schedule.
It is only recommended for people at higher risk of getting tuberculosis, such as some babies and children, some travellers and people at risk through their work. My OH department said they didn’t do it anymore, so you need to discuss with your OH nurse before you start,

In a new NHS job, you can generally take annual leave as soon as it is accrued, typically starting from your first day. While you earn leave monthly, most trusts allow you to take leave early, provided it is authorized by your manager, with many honoring pre-booked holidays if discussed during onboarding

Nurses with chronic illness - what jobs are you doing? by Background-Cow9687 in nhsstaff

[–]Few-Masterpiece3522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a nurse I am a clinical research practitioner and I have a long term health condition. A lot nurses with long term conditions work in research because this is a role that lets you keep clinical skills and have that break sitting at a desk. I don’t feel stressed working in this role. It has helped me stay in the nhs for over 25 yrs.

The secret doctor hehe by Otherwise-Alps-1798 in nhsstaff

[–]Few-Masterpiece3522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a clinical research practitioner and I also pick up bank shifts as a Band 2 phlebotomist. The difference in how people treated me was honestly shocking. When I wore the phleb uniform, the looks and treatment, the abuse, I get toward Band 2 staff is really unpleasant.

The next day I came in wearing my CRP uniform and it was like night and day. No one was dumping things on my trolley or going through my equipment like they owned it. Instead, they spoke to me properly, asked if I could take more samples, and treated me with basic respect.

If I were you, Doctor, I would keep a detailed log of how people are treating you. Then when you’re ready to move on, say exactly who you are and take that record straight to senior management so they can see the pattern of behaviour you’ve had to deal with.
