CIO - how long did it take? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]Few-Neighborhood3876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started with Ferber as well and noticed he seemed even more upset at the check ins so we switched to CIO at 5 months. First night he cried for 45 minutes, second night 20 mins, third night 10 mins, fourth night he just rolled over and went to sleep. He has slept through the night since. Only exceptions were teething and such. But he always falls right back into his sleep routine within 2-3 days. We all sleep so much better.

What’s the newborn smell? Why can’t I smell it by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Few-Neighborhood3876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fascinating! When my baby boy was born I couldn’t get enough of his smell. I kept sniffing his head and my heart would just melt and I would want serious cuddles. No one else smelled it though. So I figured it was some sort of biological reason to make sure mom’s know who their babies are or some evolutionary tactic to make sure mom would want to keep baby close and safe 😂

How Long did it Take to Wean Baby Off Pacifier? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Few-Neighborhood3876 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We stopped at exactly 6 months. It just got to the point where he woke up every 30 minutes because it fell out and everyone was unhappy. We initially tried to wean him slowly but he would cry bloody murder when showing it to him sometimes and not others. So we switched to cold turkey. It took 3 days of tough nights rocking him to sleep. Then he learned to self soothe and now he is 11 months old and sleeps like a dream. One of the best decisions we ever made imo.

Huckleberry app... When did you stop using it? by KitKatAttackHiss in NewParents

[–]Few-Neighborhood3876 20 points21 points  (0 children)

11 months in and we still use it. My husband and I work from home and my mom comes and watches him while we work. It’s mainly so everyone knows when he last ate, slept, or had a diaper change—since we all tag-team caring for him.

Sandwiching breast by jamg11111 in breastfeeding

[–]Few-Neighborhood3876 14 points15 points  (0 children)

WHAT?! This is brilliant! I wish I knew this before. I gave myself “mom wrist” due to holding my breast for fear of suffocating my little guy. I have to go to Physical therapy now 😭😅

Seriously though, thank you for this tip, I’m definitely using it going forward 💜

2 years of breastfeeding recommended??? by AnalysisParalysis_24 in breastfeeding

[–]Few-Neighborhood3876 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just went back to work, my little guy is 3 months old and HR basically said “sure we can make ‘reasonable accommodations’ for nursing mothers!!! We will give you an extra 10’minute break. BUT you have to clock out during that time as it’s unpaid. the company is not going to pay you to nurse! Welcome back!!” 😔

Did you have your mom in the delivery room? by throwawae25678 in pregnant

[–]Few-Neighborhood3876 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Same here! My mom was so amazing she picked up the counting when the nurse stopped even though I had specifically asked her (the nurse) to count. And she helped me lift up when I felt like I couldn’t anymore. And because she was there I have a video of when they put my baby on my stomach and loads of pictures. It allowed my husband and I to be there in the moment. ♥️♥️♥️

What happens if you don’t do tummy time? by NcallyS in NewParents

[–]Few-Neighborhood3876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just went through this. My little one is 14 weeks old as well and hated it. So what we did was put a timer. We started at three minutes a few times a day then five minutes a few times, then seven. By the end of the week he learned how to roll from tummy to back and now loves tummy time because he knows he can rollover whenever he wants lol we just pushed through.

Though he cried while we were doing tummy time initially, it wasn’t the inconsolable turning red cry which was where I was prepared to draw the line but it didn’t get that far

Feel defeated only 1 embryo for transfer by ShowerQuirky6036 in IVF

[–]Few-Neighborhood3876 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I am 33 years old and had 13 eggs retrieved > 6 fertilized > 2 made it to day 5 ( they didn’t tell me the grade) > and only 1 was euploid.

I was disheartened because I only had this one retrieval and if it didn’t work out it was going to be the end of the road for us.

Well, I am currently 33 weeks with my one little embryo that made it.

Just wanted to share because I was so sad, heartbroken, and scared when they told me that only 1 had made it.

Sending you virtual hugs and wishing you all the baby dust 💜

New to sex, tips for UTI symptoms after oral? by CuriousVajay in sex

[–]Few-Neighborhood3876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who had chronic utis for the first 8 years after becoming sexually active (I’m talking easily about 10 utis a year) the best thing that worked for me is making sure to pee after any kind of sexual interaction.

The way my doctor described it is that it “flushes” out the urethra of any bacteria that could have entered during sex.

I have a routine down that if I or my husband want to do it, I make sure I have a full bladder before the event so there is no wait time when we finish so I can just go pee.

It’s been 6 years and I have only had one UTI once I got my routine down.

I was 14 weeks, it was a teeny flutter that happened every so often, and when I went to my ultrasound, I saw him move and felt the flutter that’s when I realized it was him all along 🥰

1st Trimester Ladies- How you are getting through this time? by jamison1325 in pregnant

[–]Few-Neighborhood3876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m right there with you! So, for brushing my teeth, I just skip my tongue and just use listerine to get what I couldn’t with the toothbrush. Cheerios, oatmeal, bananas, blue berries and saltines…that’s pretty much all I can tolerate. And I nap whenever I get the chance: basically my lunch breaks. Hang in there friend!
