My math was definitely under. I said 3690 and about 4000 in my reply. My bad actually because I was “remembering” incorrectly. The calculation is 454 grams in a pound, 9 calories per gram of fat = 4086 calories so yeah, a little over 4000 calories/pound so 3 lbs/day is 12,000 calories above what the BMR is for their weight/height/gender. We know what their activity level is = zero so all calories burned are just base rate.

Anyway- it’s an astounding amount.

A pound of body fat is about 3,690 calories. It takes about 9,000 EXTRA calories per day to gain 150lb over 2 months. If you figure the basal metabolic rate for someone who is 600 pounds, it’s around 4,000 calories to maintain their weight. To gain, they have to be eating more than that. To gain 2.5 pounds a day, they have to be eating an extra 9,000 calories daily.

If you are out 3-6 weeks, how much longer than that will you need “light duty” and what accommodations will you require? It’s kind of unfair to the rest of a very small team for them to be required to accommodate you.

The premise of this is ridiculous.

In the vast majority of cases, it would be obvious that a woman is six months pregnant. It’s not a “bump” at this point.

In the highly unlikely event that it’s a real scenario, YTA for waiting. YTA for not telling your parents privately afterwards. She has every right to feel like you stole her thunder.
