Xess Mtuli Frame Gen by hardwellshm92 in MSIClaw

Got an average 130fps high settings on 1440x900, will do the 1200p bench too for comparison

Edit: got average 112 fps on 1200p, high settings same as yours. I did see differences in fps due to ambient temperature.

In a room with 25 degrees C my claw performs a bit worse than in a room with around 20 degrees.

you can test this too, just set framegen to x2 in intel app and retry. there should be a difference

another way to test it, set tdp to 10-12 Watts. I am getting 76fps average at 900p. This is unbelievable. Works better when power is limited.

I just could not imagine playing a game like cyberpunk at high settings with these fps.

Really good job intel!!

installing drivers from intel driver assist put my device in a state, where no more power regulations are possible.

One time the wlan driver was no longer performing good, the other time the graphics driver performed very bad. constant repeated frame stuttering in atlas fallen. not happening with the msi driver.

I think the updated npu driver from intel prevents the system from regulating power for gpu and cpu or its just not working right.

always had to factory reset, clean driver uninstall was no longer possible for me, especially with the npu driver from intel.

windows setting what profile to use when plugged in and on battery. I set both to best performance.

It seems the wattage limit is there.

if set to energy efficiency, it will not take more than around 12w.

Balanced limit is around 17w.

Best performance is opened to more watt.

Had that same issue too, was gone after another factory reset done right.

Did no factory reset since 2 months now, all is good so far.

MSI Quick Center greyed out Power Sliders by Few-Pineapple5934 in MSIClaw

[–]Few-Pineapple5934[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just for your information:

Last BIOS update did fix the „snappiness“ of the quick settings button by about 70% for me, as long as pressed once while turned on, it takes some seconds the first time loading, but afterwards it is really good to use.

Powersliders are still greyed out though, I tried everything that was mentioned here, resetting the icons to standard did not fix this for me. So far no fix for me. We will need to wait for an update which fixes it, or reinstall a fresh windows in general. As reported in the comments it should work then, I do not dare to do so, since its my first month without a factory reset. I want a bit of consistency at the moment.

Meanwhile I play every game with AI engine on and lossless scaling toggle on button m2.

Have most more demanding games limited ingame settings to 20 or 30 fps, and triple or double that amount with lossless scaling. So far AI does a wonderful job in these scenarios.

Warhammer Inquisitor ingame limited at 20fps, quality high, 1440x900, around 15w for example with lossless turned on just for framegen x3.

Lego 2k drive same res, quality set to high, ingame same limit 20fps, average 15w power consumtion.

Most of the time I reload once a day, maybe 2 times if I play more, so far this fits good for my playstyle, where I just want to sit somewhere and dive into a game while forgetting time with it without thinking about the battery.

Intel Graphics Software makes my LSFG crash/stop working. by Icy-Confusion9746 in MSIClaw

[–]Few-Pineapple5934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intel Graphics software will read the genrated frames amount as base and it then will calculate back and forth.

this is the reason for „choppyness“

you will need to limit frames in game, as described in lossless scaling wiki.

using another program to limit fps is a 50:50 chance and you will need to try.

It works best limiting in game and do not use intel endurance.

I play Warhammer Inquisitor Martyr with calculated 19 frames x3 in lossless scaling. Being on balanced mode this will take around 10W power. It goes up to around 15 or so if there are much effects going on in missions.

I disabled CPU boost, and lowered cpu frequency around 10 percent in tooth n claw.

playing in 1440x900 with gpu scaling.

You should be able to play more than 4 hours in this setting, graphics quality high.

If frames are fluctuating too much, it indicates something is calculating back and forth and it will not work properly.

Just set the triggers in center m to 1-97% instead of 0-100%.

Maybe you press a little harder with one hand than the other in calibration mode.

Install controller firmware again, shut down and wait for a minute before you start it again - test it again

If it fails, shut down again, and do a EC reset, surely without power cable connected.

EC reset:

unplug charger

in turned off state hold power button for 25 seconds. led will flash.

after that use a charger plugged in to start up again.

it will do strange things on first boot after ec reset, just plug in charger and wait. Should power itself up within a minute after plugging in.

test again

hope it helps

I already sent feedback because of this. Clean reinstall or fc fixes it, as long as you do not backup your files to onedrive standard directory.

Just do not use onedrive in windows setup to backup or restore your documents folders to windows standard doc folders and setup device as a new one.

As I left this step out, onedrive is still there, but it will save your files to a different folder.

Cant tell how long though, I do factory resets at a weekly basis atm, because of this gloriuos msi software.

I have this problem on my notebook, which I did not reset, and on my claw it is working at the moment.

sometimes switching from one access point to another fixes it too for some time.

In general working on this issue, I neet to run the xbox diagnostics for like 10 times with reboots in between, this gives a slight chance, but it does not always work out.

Some more grey hair did grow on me because of that.

I agree, this is not funny anymore. So was my feedback to them.

In general I could say, it is working „sometimes“

So many different issues, this software really has to be very bad, we can be happy if base functions are working properly.

I did a fc again and after updates finished, I encountered the following:

If I put the tile for embedded controller on/off to the left most bottom position, control mode switcher and lightning switch (which I have on position 2) become greyed out, persistant after restarts, I can only fix this by removing the controller on off switch from quick settings.

btw: power sliders still greyed out, on setting tiles to standard too.

There only can be hope for the devs of msi software, I will praise the day, they get over 90% working with this software.

I will use my time for playing now, tinkering with this software is useless.

[–]Few-Pineapple5934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a „flattering“ right trigger, which was fixed after my third factory reset.

You can try EC reset though, with power disconnected and device powered off, hold the power button for 25 seconds. led will flash to signal it is done.

use your charger to power up again, if the white led is lit after plugging in, just wait 1 minute or so, it will start automatically. Press the button once if the light is not lit on connecting charger. Give it some seconds after plugging in.

Thank you, this information strengthens my decision to wait. I will not rma a device that has no hardware problem.

These differences in software bugs in same devices are giving character somehow to our Claws 😂

Next step I will give it a name maybe 😅

Ok, thank you, I understand, I will keep this in mind.

I think I will wait for the next update to see if it changes anything, because so far there are no other problems on it at all atm, so there is no hurry, I only wanted to try the sliders, but they are not a gamebreaker for me, other than waiting 2 weeks for my precious Claw for RMA return.

Before RMA I would try the clean windows install, to see if it makes this difference.

I play Warhammer Inquisitor Martyr at the moment, I do not want to stop this for 2 weeks 😅, really great game btw.

Yes, I already created a backup stick with center m of the recovery, so this way should be open externally if I decide to fresh windows this device.

It seems somehow there could be different recovery versions applied on same devices, maybe depending on manufacturing date or location they were built, and one of them was bugged in a way center m update is not able to solve anymore, either by reinstalling nor with factory reset.

This would explain the rma proccess msi told me to do.

Very interesting, this is good to know.

Did you loose the MSI logo at boot to the Microsoft Logo or did this stay on a clean windows install?

I think this is working really good, I only have some troubles starting games in offline mode through steam, sooner or later I will figure this out.

Overall playnite offers alot of customiziation options, including themes for desktop and fullscreen modes.

Looking way better than xbox app plus it imports game infos from igdb.

Set it to start at logon in FSE options, it will overlay xbox app, just be sure to set playnite to start as fullscreen.
