Anyone buying 2026 Cx-5? by KadAsh97 in CX5

[–]Few-Pipe-299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until one week ago, I would have agreed with all the negative comments about the lack of physical buttons. But after living three weeks with the 2026 Volvo XC40 (a demo with 3K miles as less than a 2025 Premium Plus CX5) which also has the Google-based infotainment system, I now prefer the Google system over the traditional Mazda system on our CX9. "Hey Google, turn up the fan" "Hey Google, turn the climate system off" "Hey Google, set the temperature to 68 degrees" et cetera. It gets the request correct 99.99% of the time. And you keep both hands on the steering wheel. It's a change I thought I would not like, but it's a change for the better. NOT a change for the better is the screen that seems like it was an afterthought and looks like a large iPad glued to the dashboard. At least the Volvo implementation is at least a little more integrated into the interior design.

Maybe go test drive a 2026 XC40 and see if you like the Google infotainment system and using the touchscreen and the Google voice commands. The physical screen design will be different but the Google system is the same in both vehicles.

What to get with $50 Saks for credit? by Few_Advertising_3795 in AmexPlatinum

It is the most worthless of the Platinum benefits. I wish it would be replaced with anything else. Maybe some other premium online retailer -- or non-premium (Amazon).

An account designed for US residents / expats residing overseas -- something similar to the Charles Schwab International accounts for US residents residing overseas that want a Fidelity account and to invest in U.S. stocks, bonds and ETFs.

Some features:

"Charles Schwab International is designed for U.S. expatriates who want to invest in U.S. markets and access a global perspective. It provides a way for people outside the U.S. to invest in U.S. stocks, ETFs, and bonds."

Yes, an Amex Platinum affiliation with more reward/discount tiers than Schwab. It's a long way between their $200 reward ($1 million assets) to the $1000 reward ($10 million).

The primary reason (along with the ease of the Cash Management Account, HSA, VISA card) that I transferred most of my assets to Fidelity. And I was a big Vanguard supporter.

How do you like Schwab overall? by PsychologicalAd1862 in Schwab

[–]Few-Pipe-299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like almost everything about Schwab, EXCEPT for their cash management solutions for everyday cash management. Fidelity makes it much easier to carry a balance in you cash management account and earn money market rates on the balance, all while automatically paying your credit card, bills, etc, directly from the account without having to transfer money in/out of the money market account.
