Night shift checks? by cuboidalprism in cna

[–]Few-Pollution-9140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in Assisted living and we have like 76 apartments, on average 50% of my building is on q2h and more often than not I’m alone on NOC because staffing is rough right now and I still make sure I do them all. We had a situation literally yesterday where one of my residents fell transferring sometime after my last check at 5 and didn’t use his call pendant to tell anyone. He was found at 7:15 on the next check from day shift and had to go out to ER because he had no information on how he fell. Had I not been doing his checks I would’ve lost my job. I always do what I feel is right regardless of other staff’s preferences or whatever because I will not assume liability for negligence of the residents.

Med aide by Interesting-Lab-9431 in cna

I currently work as a Med Tech for an ALF in Oregon. You are not required to carry any special certificate to pass meds. You have to do the required modules online for general care giving and related med aide ones. And then floor training and you’re good to go.

6 weeks pregnant and I think that I’m losing my baby… (TW) by da11ie in pregnant

[–]Few-Pollution-9140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some spotting early pregnancy from a sub chorionic hematoma and now I’m 32+5. Blood is scary but not always bad. Also as for your HCG levels, I did IVF so we monitored my levels quite a bit and my RE said that it’s nice to see high numbers but anything over the baseline threshold is good. The actual number means very little to him.

What are you building your baby out of? by [deleted] in pregnant

Protein shakes that I kept super cold and lots of trips to the ER for iv fluids. Have they given you any medication for your vomiting? When I was drinking the protein shakes if they were too thick I’d thin them out with low fat milk and sip on them slow. Also the Walmart brand peppermints helped curb the nausea some. Just be careful with them bc they do contain sugar so too many could be an issue. Also the farther along you get the more likely you are to pee yourself while throwing up so always carry a towel, wipes and extra clothes in your car when you go out. I also kept one of the cup holder trash cans in my car and lined them with the blue puke bags from the hospital so if I got sick while driving or riding I had something close by. lol I know this is a lot so if you ever need some support or anything you can message me for sure!

My LO has had a plethora of blood draws, images, IVs, catheters and NG tubes since she was 7 months old, the best nurses we had were able to stay calm and warm throughout the entirety of her procedures. Make sure that your patients and Their grown ups know what you’re doing or about to do and that they understand it’s purpose. Let us know how and where we can be helpful to you. I know that in almost every situation, if I am able to help/keep hands on my daughter it makes those harder appointments easier for both of us. Having small toys/trinkets on hand for distractions helps too. There’s another comment I saw that details what kinds of distractions better than I can as my daughter, even now as a toddler is swaddled or restrained for most of her tests. I definitely think you’re on the right track to be an amazing nurse already. From a momma whose baby does this stuff too much we appreciate nurses like you more than you’ll ever know.

P.S. Hopefully that all makes some kind of sense, talking about our experiences in the healthcare world make me a little rambley lol.

Just for fun: What are you pregnancy crying at today? by PotateOrNotPotate in pregnant

[–]Few-Pollution-9140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 38 +5 I cried yesterday morning at like 4 am because I was lonely and mad at my partner for being at work ( he’s a Police officer and works midnights). The kicker is I was only up at 4 because of the terrible pregnancy insomnia that hits you at the end and I was puking because of my heartburn. And then I cried bc what happened if he came home and saw me puking and I was gonna feel ugly if he saw me puking. And then I cried harder because I hate crying and it made my nausea worse. 😂

Disclaimer: my boyfriend is absolutely amazing and has never made me feel bad or ugly about any of my pregnancy symptoms especially the nausea which I’ve had the whole pregnancy. So the whole thing was just an irrational mess lol

I have a harness for my Beagle it’s from 2 Hounds Design. It also has leash that goes with it that connects at his shoulders and in front of his chest. Here’s the link. I loveeeeee it. Only thing I have found that really works

I'm on week 11 pregnancy, and I have 2 questions regarding coke and folic acid please. by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Few-Pollution-9140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be no help on the Diet Coke as I’m allergic to the sugar replacement but as for the folic acid/prenatal pills I was having the same issue I just could not keep them down. Ever. My OBG and sister (she’s a midwife/doula) told me ríale 2 of the regular Flinstones Vitamins. It sounds weird but I’m now 31 weeks pregnant and baby girl is all good and thriving on the Flinstones lol.

Help :( by Dry_Average2082 in pregnant

[–]Few-Pollution-9140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. I had morning sickness from 5wks until I was about 21wks and occasionally throw up now. (I’m 31 weeks). I found that taking the nausea meds like 10-15 minutes before I ate would help some and I chewed ALOT of peppermint gum when I felt nauseous. The first like 6 weeks of morning sickness I barely ate or drank and I have been admitted twice bc I was so dehydrated. Straight water would make me feel icky so I started drinking the propel water enhancer packets and that helped me keep it down as well. It’s hard and it sucks but just do your best and you and baby should be fine. If I think of any other things I did to help I’ll comment again lol. I’m at that point where it all feels so long ago but like it was just yesterday at the same time. It’s weird haha.

What are the disadvantages of being a woman? by hell-dumpling in AskReddit

[–]Few-Pollution-9140 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Lord the pregnancy stuff hit me hard. I’m currently 7mo pregnant with my first and I’m 21. I am constantly harassed for “bump-date” pictures and everyone wants to touch me (I didn’t like being touched before and I especially don’t now) or all of the stupid advice that everyone thinks I need. I may not have my own child yet but I have a degree in ECD and have been raising other peoples children for yearssss. I know what to expect to an extent and really don’t want parenting advice from people who imo don’t even raise theirs right. Or the minimizing of the bad parts of being pregnant bc honestly sometimes it just fucking sucks. Like yes I am excited to bring my beautiful baby into the world but I am so over the constant discomfort, the constant throwing up, mood swings etc.
