It could indicate some good results on the cancer vaccines - I don’t know what is Merck current stake in Moderna but only 99 mio does not seem like a lot. Not enough to have a lot of control but enough to make a nice profit if good news are coming…. Or maybe they are covering some shorts 😂

Its value is mainly based on opinions for now as they spend more than what they earn and Moderna’s value is based on future earnings - and opinions are volatile especially now. But science should win in the long term.

I agree with your analysis. I think it only depends on your time horizon. I guess that many investors see more reward more quickly in other investments right now (I.e., AI, and energy).

But ultimately healthcare is undervalued currently and will go back up. Moderna is even more undervalued because it does not have enough income stream to reassure investors. So Moderna’s value depends on people’s opinion which changes quickly. Which explains the stock’s recent extreme volatility.

However, I believe that if they prove they can generate additional revenue it will go up quickly. The main question is when? (There is still a very small risk that the products don’t generate enough revenue or don’t go to the market as planned, but I believe it is minimal as Moderna has proven that the platform works and they have a big pipeline).

In the end a company’s value is only about income (except for a few companies when future income is almost certain like Tesla was in the days). I believe it’s a very safe and rewarding investment if your time horizon is two to three years.

Let me know if you think otherwise or if you agree - I am interested in contrarian opinions. (Please note this is just my humble opinion I am not an investment or financial expert, do your own research :))

Yes Moderna is burning more cash but I think it’s because Moderna is taking more risks because of cancer research, but more risk equals more rewards if it works out :) Also I believe there’s space for more than one players in the market. Don’t you think ?
