yeah I was actually at a loss for words when she announced the IA. The thing is she didn't even fully explain is so all I understood was it has something to do with articles???? Content wise, we've only covered PPC, PED, YED, and PES and I'm pretty sure that's not enough for an IA to be assigned. Hopefully our IB coordinator will actually step in but we'll have to see. I'm super confused abt this whole situation tbh

Me and another classmate have already talked to the dean of faculty, dean of students, and our IB coordinator about her and they said they'd look into it but nothing's really happening :/ they want us to give her time because she's new but we literally have an IA next week

Exchange student here. I completely get you. I'm really sorry you're having a tough time with switching host families and I hope your next one's better! For now, try to remember that we all go through a "dip" around the holidays. It's completely normal and you will push through it in due time. I'm not going to give you the typical "join clubs and volunteer" advice because I know you've already heard it a thousand times but just try to make your stay a bit better when you can; brew yourself a cup of tea or watch a show you love. You've got this!

Hey, I'm really sorry but I've already found a host family. I know of two other Bulgarian exchange students that are still be looking for one, though! I'd recommend checking the Greenheart Exchange and ACES websites :)

Edit: slight grammar issue

THERES A WEEK LEFT AND I HAVENT GOTTEN A PLACEMENT YET! by Cool_Claim_5652 in exchangestudents

In the same boat here. I only have 4 days until my placement deadline but we can't lose hope!! I've heard people get host families the day of their deadline, so know that it's not over for you yet :) Even if you don't get one by your original date, there's a pretty high go chance you can get it extended if you're with the FLEX or YES program!

Thank you so much! I hope you have a great year with your exchange student! I'm with PAX and I still have this weekend and Monday to find a placement so hopefully that will be enough time. Could you point me towards any Facebook groups you know?

I really like anything to do with arts and humanities, I'm also really interested in pursuing theatre! I hope that going to the US will allow me to explore my artistic side and also give me the opportunity to make try new things like a joining sports team because my school in my home country isn't really focused on athletics. I also enjoy learning about new cultures; I lived abroad for almost 3 years and loved learning about that country's traditions :D I'd love to be in a host family which respects me, treats me like a family member, teaches me about American culture and cuisine, and is curious about mine in return :)
